Yeah, RC bluetooth has never worked for me.
I do use the module though, so I have onboard bluetooth support.

The lack of usb headers has not bothered me though. I still have four unused usb ports on the I/O panel, and two from the front panel headers. Each of my two monitors has a usb hub with four ports also.

I'm glad you said it yourself. It'd be a good idea to preserve your golden board. I mean 259 on air is absolutely incredible. I had the hardest time trying to get to only 238.

I experienced exactly this and posted about the CPU Fan Header in the Asus Support Forums. That specific header is the only one that requires a 4-pin PWM fan for speed control. I've tested it and it's true.

Hey all, I seem to be having a hard time getting more bclk. I have not worked too long on this new board but hope you can help. I was hoping to get 4400Mhz to 4500Mhz on cpu. If I go lower the multi I dont get the most from my memory. Can you see anything here with this info? I am more of a DFI guy so Asus is new to me. Thanks Gary

Try using the 21x multi and setting bclk to 215. Try raising QPI and vcore will need to be in the 1.38v to 1.48v range for 4400Mhz - 4500Mhz depending on your chip unless you got a golden chip. Also, it is really tough to get 4500Mhz 4C8T LinX 20 runs stable. You will probably have to turn HT off to get 4500Mhz LinX stable.

Thanks for the advice. I have lowerd the multi and tried to raise the bclk. I seem to have a hard time at around 200 bclk. Plus it takes my memory way out of its sweet spot. I would like to get there with just getting the bclk up while using the 23 muti if possible. But I will play with 21 multi some more and see it I missed something.

I have just tested max bclk without going to slow mode and I hit 234 max bclk, but after that its start throttling, and everything above that it seems useles. I used this settings 1,35V IOH, 1,5V vtt, and 117 PCI-E.

Oh so you were getting 250+ with Slow Mode?

I also had to set similar volts to achieve 238 BCLK. The ss i posted hitting 238 was W/O Slow Mode. When I get bored I'll see how far I can get with it

Once I get back to my home and can setup my loop again I want to test my max bclk/qpi speed as well.

Previous owner said 226 was the max, I want to see if I can at least replicate or pass that. 234 is quite nice.

Some one has offered to trade me a Classy 3way that does 245 bclk on water, it's tempting me...

You guys ever test a higher QPI speed than core speed? I have a friend who told me a while back his 950 and P6T WS was faster with 4.0 QPI and 3.8 Core for most things, but I forget exactly what he said.

I haven't gotten the chance to test this yet, but I'd only do it if I could get both Core and QPI over 4.0

Also, what type of cooling are you guys using for the chipset with those voltages?

Actually this is the first time I've seen that mentioned, higher uncore than core. I have not tried it yet but soon will now that you mentioned it

CPU was on water but board on air. I have the optional heatsink on the IOH with the fan bracket modified so the fan is mounted on top, rather on side. Temperatures stay around 40c and never exceed 50c

While we're on the topic what is safe voltage to push on IOH/ICH for air/water? I had my IOH up to 1.45v I hope I didn't degrade it.

Ah, yeah I've not seen it mentioned much either other than when my friend told me over AIM a while back. He isn't a "bencher" so he didn't show me any tests that proved what he said, but I trust his word based off the work he does.
Be sure to post your results if you do.

Okay, that is my setup right now, but I'd like to put my board under water for assurance. I may attempt to mod my fan like that as well if I don't do water.
Do you have thermal paste between the "fan sink" and the sink on the board? I think mine gets much hotter than that.

I think that is pretty high, but I have no idea the "safe" voltage spec.

My ambient is around 23c. When my fans are all set to 60% duty ICH/IOH temps are 43c/46c respectively. With fans at full speed temps drop to 38c/40c.

Yes I did use TIM when mounting the "fan sink". I put a small drop where the IOH chip would be located underneath. It's not exactly in the 'center' of that fan sink area.

I use Shin-Etsu X23-7783D, best TIM IMO. Thicker than some others so actually performs better if you use slightly more than recommended 'minimal' amount.

You will have an easier time passing 4500Mhz LinX if you turn Hyper Threading off in BIOS, its very hard with it on. Also, you need to set "maxmem" in LinX to ensure full stability.

    All or nothing! lol.

How does 4.2 HT on compare to 4.5 HT off?

I run 4400Mhz HT on and have run 4500Mhz HT off both LinX stable and see big points differences in Vantage with 4.4 HT on being faster and scoring more points in Vantage then 4.5 HT off.

Haven't taken the time to do any other tests. I run the 4.4 HT On 24/7 under water 35% fan speed for bluray video encoding no problem.

of course 259 bclk was on slow mode, I hit 4100MHz qpi link with slow mode on that bclk, without it will be around 5000+MHz qpi link and that is impossible.

I cant go over 234 on air cooled CPU and motherboard because it starts throttling over 4200MHz qpi link speed. I think with better cooling on the CPU and board it will go higher easy.

Slow mode is ok for 2D benching and I get similar scores with slow mode and without. But for 3D slow mode is useless.

I did some testing of 4.4 HT On vs 4.5 HT Off in wPrime 1024M and Vantage CPU test to confirm my findings which I saw when running Vantage with HT On vs HT Off. Here are the results which show a big difference favoring the lower clock speed with HT ON.

    4523Mhz HT OFF wPrime 1024M

    4438Mhz HT ON wPrime 1024M

    4523Mhz HT OFF Vantage

    4438Mhz HT ON Vantage
