    @ neo_rtr you do know that leo27 has a q6600 which is 65nm while yours is 45nm...on the other hand it doesnt hurt to try...

    My best LinX results at 4.5GHz is 0 passes stable with DDR 1200MHz and DDR 1000MHz.

    Impossible to have it LinX stable at 9 X 500MHz with Ai Clock Twister Lighter and the Rampage Extreme or Gigabyte Memory timings. I think that something is still to tight in the BIOS to have a Quad running at FSB 500MHz.

    I'm going to try with Prime95 to see how long I can keep it stable.

    And what MCH voltages have you tried to reach stability at 9x500?

    1.65V -> 1.75V NB Voltage

    1.40V -> 1.60V FSB Termination Voltage

    1.36V -> 1.46V CPU Voltage

    I don't think that it's a Voltage problem. I think that it's a timing problem. Maybe the problem is MCH Read ODT. That's the only visible difference between ASUS and Gigabyte boards in EVEREST.

    Woa those are quite high for a 45nm chip A-Grey !!

    But i agree that there is defiantly a difference in timings, the other things that makes a huge difference on the Gigabyte board is its GTL adjustments which would make reaching 500Mhz a lot easier.

    They are to high but there's nothing you can do about it.

    Yes and it doesn't make any difference.

    It's possible to change MCH Read ODT with BAR_Edit.

    FED14290 - Change 668 to 66B and you've got 11T.

    The good news is that it's stable at FSB 469MHz the bad news is that it didn't help at FSB 500MHz.

    I don't see any difference in performance.

    @ Alien Grey, have you ever tried 9 x 480 @ 1200PL7? With your low voltage cpu it shouldnt be so difficult to find stability. When i tried it i manage to find stability but with a bit high volt settings for 24/7

    I never tried that. I'm not looking to run it at FSB 500MHz 24/7 and as you're saying at FSB 480MHz it would need a bit more voltage and I don't like that. The power consumption would be higher and that isn't good for my electricity bill.

    The reason I would like it run stable at 4.5GHz is to join the Intel LinX 4.5GHz Stable Club but that won't happen with this Mobo (BIOS).

    Hi Spy2520, congratulations to you very nice q9550 overclock :-) Please, could you post your bios settings to the forum? I would like to see your settings - I still can´t reach the 4 GHz... Thank you. Sven

    Few days ago upgraded my CPU to a Q9650.
    Two things.
    1) 1st Boot always fails. Will need to remove the power cable or turn off the power switch at the back of the PCU.
    Maybe i have to do this 1 or 2 times. But after that it will boot and all ok.
    I did noticed some of the onboard leds been red but i will need to remove the PC from under the desk in order to look closer (no space available to look inside from the side.) Greg you know what i mean.

    2) All good so far up to 9x435 FSB.
    with 1002bMod bios i was able to boot into 440x9. thats it with the mem.timings from
    1st Information : 5 - 5 - 5 - 15 - 5 - 52 - 12 - 6
    2nd Information : 8 - 6 - 6 - 4 - 7 - 4 - 7
    3rd Information : 23 - 8 - 1 - 6 - 6

    The memory is 5-5-5-18 Common Performance Level [07]
    Ai Clock Twister [Lighter]
    Refresh Period [16120T]

    I think i have CPU Clock Skew Delay 300ps and NB Clock Skew Delay 200ps

    With 438x9 i manage prime95 in large FFTs only to fail on the 2nd day. It will say HW error detected around the 3rd,4th pass.

    Still rock solid on 435x9 though.

    back to 4x438 Changes the timing to 5-5-5-15 or 12 Common Performance Level [07]
    6-6-6-18 or 21 Common Performance Level [07] and even (8) with no luck,

    raised cpu volts, fsb volts but nothing.
    What do you think it might be causing this here.
    It looks is the memory timings. What can i do?

    Use the default tRAS and tRFC for your memory. Try to find out what CPU Skew and NB Skew your board likes. It takes some time but you should try it out on a real stable overclock and with each change of skew you try to lower the voltages whithout making it unstable.

    Can you do this?

    Photoshopping isn't allowed.

    This is with MCH Read ODT 11T. The hardest part is to boot and have it load BAR_Edit so it doesn't BSOD because of the low voltage.

    I can walk on water every sunday but can not do the above,
    I can do 440x9 5-5-5-18 (auto settings) prime stable ! At 1054 mem.i believe.
    Iam happy for your success!

    EDIT

    Wrong 440x9 crashed during game play back to 435

    i think heat is either limiting my cpu or the NB from getting much better than 480, I've had it at 484 but didn't have time to play with it and get it right. Willing to bet its temps causing instability though, if i watercool the motherboard i could possibly get to 500fsb.

    Nobody seems to see it so I try to explain what I think is going on.

    With MCH Read ODT 11T the board seems to be a lot more stable. Without the 11T it would BSOD very quick and it would be impossible to load anything so it wouldn't be possible to make a screenshot at 4.5GHz with such low FSB Termination Voltage and NB Voltage.

    To find stability I need 11T because with 8T I think I need more voltage and more voltage on the NB than necessary makes it unstable with the amount of clock skew that I'm using.

    @SoLoR

    Can you mod the BIOS and change MCH Read ODT from 8T to 11T to give it a try and see if it's holding us from the higher clocks?

    It doesn't matter that it would always be at 11T because it is stable with my 24/7 overclock and it doesn't lower the performance.
