No flow data yet, but we're using the same 0.5mm fins/channels used in our GTX 580, 480, 470, 460, and Radeon HD 5870 (type "2") FC blocks. The path on this is more straightforward and there's no VRM fins, so it's probably a little less restrictive than those other models.
I'll find out what's going on with our sales dept. They'll email you back.
Well, thanks! Our GTX 580 block is also acetal. For future models, we're trying to decide between the separate metal plate on the 6850/6870 blocks for our logo, or just printing it onto the acetal directly like our GTX 580 block.

EK-FC6870 Backplate prototype testing done. They should be available in the upcoming days!

Maybe 5870/5850 full block can use on 6970/6950? To me they are almost identical.

No, it can't, the position of the mounting holes is slightly different, also the PWM is changed.

EK-FC6970 waterblock undergoing testing. Sadly I have fried the HD6970 card and I'm forced to test with HD6950. Quite a nice card though, fast as hell.
My first impressions are that the card is running a tad 'hotter' than HD5800 series - or at least sensors show it that way. Also the idle temperatures are higher than the HD5800 both with water block and the stock cooler.
System specs:
- Intel Ci7 950 @ 4GHz, 1.4Vcore
- Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD7 rev2.0
- 3x2GB Exceleram Red Culvert (E30104A) DDR3-1600
- Corsair TX650W PSU
Cooling:
- CPU: EK-CPU Supreme LT
- MB: EK-FB KIT GA X58A (UD7 rev2.0) prototype
- GPU: EK-FC6970 prototype
- EK Coolstream XT 360 + 3x Yate Loons @ 1350rpm
- Swiftech D5 + EK X-TOP D5
- 12mm ID clearflex tubing
- coolant temp: 37.4 - 37.5°C - measured with Greisinger GMH-3230 J-type thermometer
Default 800/1250MHz, with stock voltage 1000/1350MHz was no sweat for Furmark. Needs a bit more volts though

Niko

@flopper: I'm having issues installing .NET framework 4.0
@Vetalar: Don't know, I believe the VRM temperature just might be the GPU temp #3 in the GPU-Z window.

When will the 69XX be available vendors? I'm looking at putting 2 under water now.
The cards are being readily available since 14th of December while the EK-FC6970 waterblock should start selling in a week or two.

paper towel under the fullcover block scares me a bitbut backplate looks nice. is there mate black version?
Vetelar: It is just to support the weight of the card as Cooler Master bench table does not have PCI bracket holderYes, there will be two versions - nickel plated and black painted.

Will the EK block come with screws to support the stock back plate that comes with 6970?
PS: My 6970 is in pain, water loop all around it and still on air cooling, i can hear it screaming that its to hot!![]()

No pics are available yet, but our VID-AR697 (Radeon HD 6970/6950) FC block should arrive on Monday, 12/27. I would expect a similar style to our 6870 & 6850 blocks.

Hi Guys,
I am in the process of testing our new HD6970 cooling solution; I looked for O/C utilities but found none so far that work. It's either my OS (Win7 64) or the Beta AMD driver I am using, I am not sure at this point; I tried TriXX (cannot connect to low level driver), ATI Tool (does not recognize the card at all), MSI Afterburner (only allows max stock OC of 950); my contact at AMD is unavailable today. If anyone knows of a utility that works beyond 950, let me know, I'd appreciate it.
I will also try to come up with some CrossFire test results later on this week since I have two cards. Meanwhile, here is some basic info/features on the cooling solution:
True full cover (entire card is dressed)
0.6x0.6mm pin matric GPU cooling
Liquid cooled VRM's with hard contact to block for perfect TIM
Compatible with large compression fittings
Compatible with stock back-plate
Release date Mid January.
