Maybe AMD shouldn't publish the specs even after the launch so we can keep guessing what's inside Cayman forever!

If AMD can barely beat a 480 with single core after they had one entire year to engineer it then I stand extremely dissapointed.
Still as I live in Brazil and these cards are no less than 3x more expensive than msrp I will still hold on to my system till bulldozer is out and by then I will probably be looking at 28nm graphics cards.

example: gtx 480 online price at your typical brazilian etailer:
    https://www.dhcp.com.br/product_info...ognq6kd05001b3

    BRL 1999.00 = USD 1142.00
So more than $1.1k for a 480. What a sad country this is, third world is a .

If rumors are true and I had to chose then Id definately go for the faster 580.

now where did you read that? not a single rumor at all suggests that it is barely above a 480, all rumors point to significantly better than gtx 570 (15-30%) with a slight possibility that it's on par with 580...

and all the guys in the EU complain about pricing... next time is see them complaining I will point them here haha. Thats outrageous, you def need to get someone to ship you parts from the states, you would save thousands on a new rig that way.

however I am willing to bet that the 6970 is faster then a 570, or at least it better be...

...how 'bout... Barts in fact has all the roumored 1280SP but they decided not to use all as 1120 was enough to beat GTX460 and lower performance than 5870 so they could sell out the remaining stock and once GTX560 comes out we'll have a 6890 and Cayman has all the 1920 but.... apply the same theory as above with 5970 and GTX590 (690, whatever).

nah they stacked 2 cayman chips on each other and drivers disable this, 6990 will be a plastic card with a code printed on it to enable this core and it comes together with a ferrari sticker and a free 50% fan speed boost to make it sound like the new 2011 F1 Car

Yeah Argentina and Brazil have some ridiculous import taxes on finished goods

It's why Foxconn and otehrs open plants there... to finish the manufacturing there, and avoid the tax
