MSI R5850 Twin Frozr II voltage issue

So, I can either do a classic vmod with an appropriate variable resistance between fb and ground or do a vid mod, which I am not very sure what it is

Does VIDmod involve "tricking" the controller through the vid pins (soldering something to those pins) or it's just some bios edit in the appropriate values. That VID table is stored in bios, right? The software, tells though the i2c bus what VID mode to be used, or did I mixed up everything?
