but not bad...If is this with 955, its impressive, ebcause ussually Denebs have no chance against Thubans in validation.

Sorry unlike madd I don't work out of one of the largest PC stores in china

I also prefer not to excessively bin so that my results are indicative of what the "normal" user can find with "normal" acess to cpu's

Not to mention if I always had a clock advantage over everyone I would just get lazy and not tune stuff, nor does it make it enjoyable for others to try to be competitive

    Hey, buddy

Dun get me wrong! But can’t agree with you on this one.
Unlike those MFT guys (they do OC for living, so no surprise) who can gain access to & obtain free CPUs/hardware from industry sponsors, I need to buy my own. I just buy/select CPUs in many shops like other so called “normal” users do. It has nothing to with the store my Team is affiliated with. FYI, all CPUs exported to HK are sealed & not in bulk.

As I recall, you were once binning some 20pcs of free AMD samples in TW. Sorry…I dun have that privilege…NOT even a chance in my life, nor will I buy 20pcs for binning, no way, jose! I’d rather spend that kind of money for a trip with my family.

For me, finding a good CPU & tuning are both important & enjoyable. I think normal users do look for nice chips all the time too, dun they! Frankly, I enjoyed the process more than the result this time. Thanks to Flankerp who made all this happened…!

actually 30 pcs in taiwan which gigabyte aquired for an EVENT, all sucked and none were mine

All 30 pc's had to go back and did and I was just there to bin not put up results, I used my own chips for results

Didn't you bin and I quote "dozens of i5 530's"?

Not a dozen but plural you used specifically.

Can't see why you would treat AMD any different Sorry I just don't buy the i tested 5 chips and all were 7 gig chips routine ( considering there are 10 in the world ), I am very aware of the realistic odd's and only reason I ever even mention how many chips I test is to "keep it real" I would hate for someone to go out and buy 5 chips and expect all to do 7 gig.

Isn't this your picture madd that you took in your SPONSORS shop?

Weird you would bin so many cards but you won't bin alot of extremely cheaper cpu's

Contrary to popular belief AMD does not send me "trays of cpu's" nor anyone

They do send "Trays" however with a couple cpu's in them ( which of course require enduser support and manufacturer bios support aka I probably paid for them 10 times over retail )

    Hahaha…!

How could I get trays of CPUs & bin ? You can't too, can you?!
Again, there’re no supports from AMD or Intel for HK local overclockers who need to buy CPUs themselves, and so do I ! That pictures included only part of the free samples from Galaxy.

So…what’s your point, buddy? Are you trying to prove that my Team or I does/do have supports from display card MFT = necessarily able to get or having supports from CPU MFT ? what does it have to do with this thread? And what does it have to do with 530 or display card ?! Funny…!
In fact, I was glad that after I posted the picture, a few overclockers approached me for helping them to get samples from the MFT. And that’s made the MFT pay more attention to markets other than Asia. I think that’s a good thing to do !

I think everyone is trying their best to get good results in this thread & more or less they do have/buy a few pcs of chips & select the best to test with…what’s wrong with that?

Hey, you dun put up the results of the binned ones…that’s your decision! I respect that, but it doesn’t mean it’s not right for other people who do.

Maybe…just maybe the question is “Why, Mad222, this lucky bastard gets all the golden chips all the time? He must have binned a lot or received good supports from someone!” But why does it necessarily have to do with the store my Team affiliated with? Please dun make your own assumption !

This is getting so far now…
Sorry, Flank & guys ! Hope I didn’t ruin this thread
    & Chew...cheer up, Buddy!

guys...simply, just relax . I know, Chews CPUs are great too, remeber at 955 C2, to time was the best C2 what I seen (0911 EPMW), or 1015 Thuban, yes, its not binned, but 1015 series are ussually really better than others. I had luck, I got great 955 C2, great x6 1090T, normal x6 1090T and x4 970 BE and one bad chip of x4 965 BE C3. Of course, its under AIR, diferent story can be with this chip under LN2. I believe, I can get 4900 MHz now with my 1015 and still only slighty up 1.55V.

The only think I ask is that madd keep the numbers realistic for end users . Don't tell them I'm sure they will find a chip like that to and its just luck.........

If I was paying for chips and read your posts and went out and bought 5 chips based on what I read I would be pissed none of them did 7 gig ln2 or 5 gig on air

I don't like misleading people and I don't like it when others do it either.

Realistically guy 0 in 40 chips ( retail mind you and all being various chips )

will do 7 gig on ln2 or 5 gig on air.

If we count press samples and or "tray" cpus from AMD those number shoot to 0 in 80.

There are some realistic figures for you.

Now, you’re speaking from your heart.
As most of us may probably notice, the quality of AMD CPU varies… even the same batch. It’s damn hard to get good ones nowadays. I did mention this in various threads & have been trying to find ways (batches, edges, type of pcb & cpu pins, etc.) to ID them without the painful binning.

I was so surprised with this new 955 I got. It seems to me that AMD has done something & made it good on day to day uses. But it does not behave like Thuban.

    You know what…
I dun like AMD CO., as much as I dun like being naked in public
But I enjoy clocking AMD CPUs as much as I enjoy watching naked chicks on nude beaches

Dun you worry about the misleading thing! I’m sure people here are experienced & sophisticated enough to tell “what is & what’s not?”

A quick question, I'm trying to get the most of my Thunban, but I only can boot at 4.4GHz with 1.6V on BIOS, if I try to get more i get BSoD.

I'm don't want kill my CPU, but also I understand that overclock is test and fail,so, I read somewhere that is better set the voltage in BIOS and rise the multiplier with AOD. Is that true? My idle temps @ 3.8GHz are 18şC and load goes around 43şC. What do you think that is the max voltage that I can set in the BIOS? What is the worst that can happen if a set more voltage that CPU supported?

I’m sure many people who really love benching AMD will get this score too. I’m just the lucky one.

For the real voltage, do you take the BIOS voltage right?

hmm, I forget now, been a while since I have touched a deneb, gonna check some recent data.

TBH I did not test "needed" voltage on this I set to a specific voltage ( 1.475 ) max air prime 95 voltage I use for all chips on this particular board.

Seems normal enough to me and with 8 gig density + 64 bit
