edit: when enablingunofficialOC in the .cfg file ("1") this makes it run at constant OC

so i switched back to "0"....i just cant go past CCC limits, which is fine for now...while i work on the RBE editor

Try Sapphire's TriXX instead if Afterburner is keeping your cards upclocked.

The clocks reduce fine on the OCed 6850 in my Ph II 940 computer. Haven't tried it with a 6870 though.

Can anyone benchmark FFXIV high setting on your 6870? Preferably once at your highest aircooled overclock and once at 1000/1150. Use the first character.

I am deciding to either get a 6870 or the older 5850. Yes I know the 6870 is a way faster card and newer tech but i am being offered a 5850 at a really good price. If the 6870 is not too much faster I might a 5850 instead and save some money.

    Thanks in advance.

You may find the below useful. At about 880 on the core a 5850 should be around stock 5870 performance in that bench.

If you're interested in other titles, try that.

Again, a 5850 with proper voltage should not have a problem matching or passing a stock HD 5870.

Thanks for the links! The stock clock scores for 6870 looks really good but It seems strange that the overclocked score is only 4760? My mate's rig with a 5850 clocked 1ghz was hitting 5130. So it seems you are right oc 5850 does exceed a stock 5870.

    YW.

A well overclocked 5850 is still a darn good card. Personally, I wouldn't replace one like that with anything less than a 6950. Reportedly, the 6950 is going to be about 299-320usd and may match a stock GTX 580 with overclocking.

We should see in a few weeks.

why dont you guys set this in profile and saved settings?
    I run 2D crossfire at 1.43v and 765mhz/1101mhz
    and 3D 940/1150mhz 1.2v.
switches automatically due to profile set.

tested and now run 385/500mhz 2D.
    seems to work fine.
