Therefore EK does not recomend to use 480 block with 580 GTX card.

I just got the 2nd DD block fitted to my 2nd 580, this one took a little more effort to fit - VRMs was not as tight towards the wb as the first one.

In the end, O/C did not gain anything from these 480 waterblocks - it was no difference from the OEM H/S (except the noise, of course):
    - 855/2150 w/o voltage hike
    - 925/2150 at 1.125v

Good enough for me, but maybe not for everybody else... YMMV.

Has enyone tested the ek-480 on the 580 now? I actually had my 480 block mounted with out the cutout lids in the PCB, and it worked fine anyway.

And if it gets a problem it can easy be modified to fit. Ofcourse the best is to buy a 580 block but i already have one ek-480

Really want those extra 10% performance so this would make my day with fresh testresults on the EK-480 block.

I used a IR temp meter... temps on the back of the 580 w/ DD wb, around the VRMs was around 50-60C+.
With the OEM h/s it was 20-30C+ hotter on the same spots.

But 18$ per card to step up isn't bad at all, best of all GTX480 block works

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

If the EK 480 blocks are fully compatible... what could EK possible do to change their blocks for the 580 other than branding "580GTX" on the block?

If there isn't already a similar thread about this...then maybe a EK rep can hop on in this thread and enlighten all of us.

Change fully to for the most part...

EK 480 block uses PCB hole to mount for VRM contact, 580 = no hole, block may bend the card and may not contact VRM's

Memory on 580 also shifted on the right side up about half an IC, you will get contact but only have of the IC...if you use a thick thermal pad that shouldn't be an issue.

If this is the case, then how is EK going to get enough contact on the 580GTX VRMs if there is no PCB hole?
