Guide for activating SLI on AMD 890FX platforms

You know matose, allways unlocking something, allways trying to open the doors that were closed by manufacturers. This time the subject is SLI on AMD 890FX boards, and we're talking about SLI, with 60-70% scaling numbers, not Lucid Hydra mixed multi-card. In this case, he used Asus Crosshair IV Extreme, and the PCI-E slots used were nr 1 and nr 3, that are connected directly to the chipset (in order to bypass the Hydra chip controlling the slots nr 2, 4 and 5.

Already present in the AMD section. And is not only for 890FX, but seems to work on all AMD chipsets

Ahem, well enjoy the guide then

And yes, this works on any AMD chipset, 890FX was just the example for this.

Couple things, how is scaling vs. a 980a?

Also if it can be used on any platform can it work on a 870 platform which runs at x8 x4? If so since it's using SLI does it run at x8 x8 or still x8 x4?

It will run on AMD 870 at the maximum speed that is supported by the chipset. It doesn't make any wonders, just activated SLI

It's for any chipset in general, just makes drivers think it's X58 rig to fool SLI

Not only this, but also modifies the DSDT system table . I mentioned the authors in my article!

Interesting article but is it really a guide? From what I gather you (matose) have already developed the solution, so the guide is:
    1- Download the patch.
2- Disable UAC, logon as an admin.
    3- Run the patch.
    4- Reboot your computer.

The main ideea is that afaik nobody put this information in this form for AMD platforms, I remember the xdev's article on X48, that was like....godlike. I know that chew also ran the SLI on AMD. Now this is brought to a wider, less educated audience, in a few simple steps. Kindda like my "overclock the HD 5970 past 1000 MHZ guide" before the overclocking programs could do that

    Sorry for the off topic.
My motherboard, Supermicro X8SAX does not support SLI even though it's a x58 chipset. I asked Supermicro about it and the answer I got was:

    Hello Sam,

The two motherboards are optimized for different applications. The C7X58
is a desktop motherboard whereas the X8SAX is a workstation motherboard.
We've only done the SLI certification done by NVidia onC7X58. We didn't
    do so on the X8SAX.
I wonder if this fix would work for me too. If not, it still should be fairly easy to enable SLI on this board.

    What do you guys think?

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

SuperMicro blocked the SLI from the BIOS (DSDT) so this patch will work perfectly for you too !
