yeah, they look sweet... compared to 1 year old AMD products.
the conclusion has to be made after 6900s come out.

He isn't wrong yet, is suppose to be a hard lunch today and i have yet to see any cards online for sale, and he's right on the mark about the performance numbers, just word it as a hater as usual.
That said, i like 580, is what 480 should of been. This should of been here one year ago.

Looking good nvidia, 5970 will be a difficult choice now. This is a major step in the right direction by nvidia, not being late to the market is going to increase a lot of their share in DX11 now.

At the moment, 4 of those 8 models listed are in stock, and as I understand it, a fifth (EVGA Black Ops) isn't officially released yet.
We've had far worse initial launches, I think we can all agree.

Great compilation, thanks.
I quite liked Anand's review, as usually. Very detailed arch info. I like what Nvidia is doing. They are paying attention to all aspects this time.
It might not be a perfect product, but it does look a lot more appealing than GTX480 at the time of its launch.
Looking forward to more OCing info. Hopefully it will deliver.
As I said days ago. He was dead wrong. Actually, it was him that was "spinning".

Next up: a post by Charlie saying "they're in stock because they aren't popular!".![]()
while the card is pretty impressive i wouldn't call it a feat to almost beat a 1 year old card form its competitor, additionally we're going to see if these cards remain in stock for a long time or if they're going to be another press editions that we see at least once in a year....

Hey look, it's the GTX 485
It's probably because I haven't followed the pre-launch news but I thought it was gonna be a new architecture with much improved performance, not just a "fixed" 480. Oh well.
double post
So if I were to guess the:
-570 will be the 480
-560 will be the 470
However, I've not read any announcements on a 570 or 560 as of yet.

Anyone notice the new Geforce website?

I don't understand all this outrage over naming. AMD just put out a 6800 series with less performance than its 5800s, and Nvidia is somehow wrong to give a next generation number to something that offers 15-20% better performance while consuming fewer watts and making a lot less noise? Bull.
Yeah, AMD has started the fake-new-generation number-game in this round. nVidia is following the same path, and soon they will both run out of numbers, as I've said before.
This GTX580 is an improvement/evolution (specially on heat/power/noise) and it improves may big issues that 480 suffered, for sure, but it doesn't deserve a first-digit as new generation. The performance-gain is not what we expect from a new generation.

Alien Babeltech made a good review too, with GTX 480 and GTX 580 at the same speed 850/1700![]()
It looks as if nVidia are finally getting there house in order, the 580 is looking much better, however i get the feeling this was the card nVidia originally wanted to release if all things worked as planned.
Now its AMD's turn, one thing for sure its great to see two companies being so competitive against each other. If only AMD could do this on the CPU front.
i do agree with the people that are a little disappointed with this card. it is slightly quieter, cooler, and a good bit faster but the $500 + price point is just too hard to swallow. hopefully the launch of the 6970 will bring prices down. im waiting for this time next year when the 28nm next gen gpus should be coming out.that will be the time to upgrade for me![]()
