    Heat Guns -

Question to those using heat guns - what heat settings you use? For example, I just picked up a cheapy ($14) that does 250C (482F) on Low and 450C (842F) on high - How does that compare to what you are using.

As for backround - kinda got tired of using my torch lighter which can burn the sleeving or heatshrink if you are not careful http://www.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=h...w=1280&bih=656

ok so i tried to sleeve my PSU but i failed my problem was that after i finished a cable the sleeving would escape from under the heatshrink shortly after i gave up. i used a heatgun if it makes any difference. (i used MDPC stuff, still feel bad for wasting a quality product )

You need to really heat the heatshrink for it to clamp down on the sleeving, which is why most people favour a naked flame (and a lot of control, and a lot of patience)

    Which are you doing:

    A) Putting the heatshink on the just cut sleeving ends - or

    B) Are you melting the ends of the sleeving after cutting it to length before putting the heatshink on?

Gotta really get in there, sometimes with the hairdryer on high and hitting the "turbo" button i have to get really close and hold it for a long time still....maybe you cut the shrink too small?

Hi Xien16 - big fan here haha. Anyway man, I see that sleeved LED setup you have and I was at the electronics store today trying to figure out how to do it. The sleeving part is easy, maybe getting the holes as perfect as yours will take some time but my real question is what is the structure under the sleeve like? I assume there are resistors between each LED? And if that connector shown on the side of the LED tube (which made me want to throw up) is being used will the LED array rest on something else or is it entirely supported (horizontally) by the connector on the end?

That color combo is so original- so bright- flashy yet not cheap flashy. I really do like.

EDIT: just looked again. I don't like it so much anymore. Now I fvcking love it! I'm buying a sweatshirt with those colors just so I can have something to hold me over until I'm able to get back home at night and stare at your work Martin.

Any tips on cutting the braid to the correct length while its on the cable as im trying to get both ends to look the same,i have put the braid on the cable uncut and put it upto the pcie connecter then clamped it then pulled the braid so it`s nice and tight to the end of the other connecter, this is where i get lost for cutting it to the correct length.
    Thanks.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Memories of the black/grand bleu/gray... lol! It truly is a sweet combination. Just that it didn't mesh well with my Rampage III Extreme! ;-) If anyone is interested! I'm selling off my Strider Plus 750 power supply now that I've stepped up to a AX1200... http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=262417 :-p (self pimping!) lol

I have a few 6+2 pin PCI-E cables from my AX1200 that I want to sleeve and I was wondering if it's ok to take out the 2pin portion since I don't need it for the video cards. Is this possible?

Martin, I really like that black, grand blue, and grey color combo.

It's the first time I've liked anything other than all black; awesome job brother!
