Doesn't your sig show you are using MODIFIED drivers?

What's wrong with not having any problems with an ATI's gfx card ?? is it against the law ?? does it offend you in some way ??
If that's the case then I would like to apologize for not having any problems with my ATI gfx card.
That's great. Good for you. So should we be letting users who should not get the wrong impression know your sig shows you use modified drivers ?

    " XFX Radeon HD5870 XXX 900/1250 MHz - TwL v3.95 Drivers"

TwL v3.95 is not the default driver, the driver end users will wind up with, is it...

So NOW you have no problems, but if you didn't have problems before, why move to the TwL v3.95 driver ?

You get banned at anand's forums, so you figured you'd register here to post only in this thread with anti-ATi spam 5 times now?

    Nice going, Skippy.

I see, so you and the last guy, can call me names, and whine, and make assumptions, but no refutal of anything I posted.

Maybe neither one of you noticed, but this thread is a COMPLAINT ABOUT ATI and it's crappy drivers.

If you aren't on that boat, you're in the wrong thread.

Isn't calling names in a personal attack against forum rules ? Shouldn't both of you apologize ? Shouldn't you follow the rules ?

If you disagree with anything I've posted, please feel free to be specific and we can see who is on top of the facts.

Thanks for the name calling though, that surely improved your non existent point, huh.

Ever stop to think that he might have a point? That, just maybe, you are falling into the same fanboy mode which he describes?

Trying to discredit someone who posts a valid argument in this manner is disgusting and should be a bannable offense. It is off topic and adds nothing to the discussion.

Back on topic, I have had my share of ATi driver problems (from the 9800pro, x800xt, x1900gt, 3650, and others) but I don't post about them since I switched to nvidia about 2 years ago. Some of these included random crashes in Flight Simulator 9, mouse movement causing click noise on speakers, slow and buggy openGL implementation, LOADS of problems with the All In Wonder part of my x800xt.

For the record, ALL of my previous ATi cards (except the 3650) are DEAD, even after running at STOCK SETTINGS their whole life. NONE of my nvidia cards are dead, even after voltmodding and other tweaks. (3 8800gts 512s, 1 8800gts 320, 7800gtx, 6600gt, gt240, 7600gs) ALL of my nvidia cards work with THE SAME DRIVER and have since the gt240 release driver (in other words, ALWAYS!)

I suppose I should throw the 3650 in my Skulltrail with a fresh Windows and see if the lasest drivers fix anything.

You AMD/ATi supporters need to calm down, step back, and take a fresh look at these things. Neither company is perfect. Both have PROFIT as objective #1, as ALL COMPANIES ARE SUPPOSED TO! But from a consumer standpoint, the important thing is to have your hardware work properly, which requires drivers to also work properly. Throwing muddy poop between fanboy camps accomplishes nothing, which is slightly less than the "it works fine for me" posts accomplish. SO SUCK IT UP AND HELP EACH OTHER, BEFORE YOU ALL LOSE!

Just because someone does not follow manufacturers instructions for installing a driver, refuses to learn anything new, uses archaic methods handed down by previous "gurus" and gets poor results is no reason to bash a company. I have used nvidia since my 1st computer up until the 4870 was released. You want to learn something? Follow the manufacturer's directions!

Your posts here could be construed as whining about ATi, and I'm not interested in refuting your posts since that would only encourage more flamebaiting.

However, it remains obvious that since you were booted from anandtech forums, you simply registered here to continue your anti-ATi tirades that have already been beaten into the ground.

If you want to whine about "name calling" over someone calling you "Skippy" (which is apt given your history), then perhaps you should 1: stop calling others names/berating them with insults (same thing) as you've done on anandtech forums; and/or 2: get a life.

What you have conveniently pretended not to notice (so as to start yet another flame fest) is that I agreed with audiofreak, and said he should get some credit for pointing out those issues about ATi that he did.

Take your anti-ATi obsession and your need for internet pissing matches elsewhere. I'm not interested.

I'm not interested in feeding troll posts of long, unneeded diatribes. I pointed out that you're obviously here only for ATi flamebaiting like you were banned for doing @ anandtech.

For me, the issue is that nowadays any post that criticizes ATI on any forum even if it is completely unbiased, well argumented and has photos, screenshots, or analyzed crashdumps as a proof is instantly clasified as whining/flaming/trolling by hordes of ATI's implanted viral marketeers and fanboys.

I'm not fanboy or "hater" of either ATi or nV. I think it's useful to discuss pros & cons of both, so that we as consumers are better informed to make buying decisions. There is a ton of FUD and marketing BS out there through which we have to sift.

I just don't care to see several long-winded, repetitious posts that do not really add to the discussion, but just continue to rehash the same, especially those that have newly registered to post only in those kind of threads, because they've carried it to the point of being banned elsewhere.

I'm just telling you guys to be wary. Nothing more and nothing less. I saw him in like 10 of anandtech's reviews posting his crap. The one I posted are probably the kinder ones.

I'm back to 10.4A drivers AGAIN!

I have tried every version after 10.4A
and all CTD in BFBC2 after a short time.
    I have a 4870X2 and 4870 trifire. I'm
absolutely no fan boy on either side and
always buy whatever is best at the time.

These 4870's replaced my Nvidia 9800GX2
because BFBC2 wouldn't max out on my 24"
    monitor.

ATI does have some issues with there drivers.
My next card will not be multi GPU and probably
not an ATI or AMD card. I just want to play my
game and not constantly worry about CTD and
    long spawn times.

    Just my opinion..

I've never had driver issues with my single 4870. Was on Cat 9.2 for a long time and recently installed 10.9. No hitches so I can't complain.

I owned crossfire 4850s and a 4870x2 before my SLI GTX470s and I gotta say I never had any issues at all with my drivers in the several years that I used my ati cards. I really don't get why people say they have problems with ati drivers I thought they were every bit as good as nvidias and I liked that they were updated monthly where nvidia's seem to be updated less frequently to me.

People say it cause they do have issues.

There are thousands of configurations so just cause you don't have it doesn't mean the next guy doesn't.
It's almost like people think people complain just for the fun of it and then bash them cause they themselves don't have problems.

The fact is running a 4870X2 and a 4870 in tri-fire causes CTD in BFBC2 after a round or so with any driver past 10.4A for me. Check my rig in my sig, it's more than powerful enough.

You can say what you want but I have gone back and forth from Nvidia to ATI and this is the most problems I've had with drivers yet.

Honestly I think it has to do with the tri-fire personally. Just don't think they have gotten the drivers quite right for my cards. If I was running one card I'm sure that I wouldn't have nearly the problems I have now.

    Cool

Time to use defibrilator on this old thread of mine and bring it back to life.

A bit more than 2 years ago I wrote an article about AMD video driver quality, issues, and constant regressions.

Fast forward to today and it seems nothing has changed:
