    +1

    I agree...

RAID 0 on the Marvell Runs slower than a single drive... I'm Running the same thing as above poster... 2 Crucial Nova 128's in 0 on the Intel, and a Single OWC 240gb Drive w/Sandforce controller on the Marvell, and I'm getting really good speed.

    Best,

Thanks fmsam & RoydRage for your input.

Do you think I will be better off just getting a C300 128GB version as my win7 drive and having the 64GB version for a few extra games.

If you plan on using more than one C300, do yourself a favour and grab an LSI 9211-4i HBA as well. C300's used on ICH10R is crippling their performance. And the Marvel 6Gbps controller can not handle more than a single drive.

You mean a Crucial Drive Right? The only Sata III ssd out right now?

I would forget about those right now... The Write speeds suck Ass... 140mb?

Writing is just as important your better off getting a Force Series Corsair or similar... I have an OWC and Muskin makes a nice Drive that also uses the Sandforce controller.... OCZ does but I always found their products very inconsistant... I and used there stuff 10 years ago.

If you use the samsung or any of the Inilinix controllers you will run into severe slowdowns from Block contamination. The sandforce controllers have a block leveling feature... OWC calls it Durawrite that tidys up after itself.

It's better to put your Boot drive on the largest partition you can, and it won't slow down so fast cause it will always have a new place to write where blocks don't have any fragments left in them... It also increases the life of the drive as you arent erasing blocks needlessly.

I have 2X128gb RAID 0 for my Boot drive, and only have 70 of the 256gb used... That is good. And I use the OWC 240gb drive for my Games and Photoshop Sratch disk... Also I burn an ISO image of the games disk, and mount it using virtual clone drive... This way the game starts up Super fast, and I don't need a disk to play it... *Note you will need to install the game from this image/Virtual Drive.

I also have a 1TB WD Black Caviar for Archieve storage, and I keep my paging file on it as well... Since it's on a different controller, it really stops interference with your read writes, and saves wear on the SDD's as well!

    Best,

    Royd RAGE

Also Kingston produced a hyper x model which is similar to the corsair's ram ... question is, is there any memory can do better that with 3x4g on this board ? From my understanding! It's not possible to see large 12g with high frequency that could at least run at 7-7-7-22 or close so far

Correct me if im wrong, Would love to see more feedback
Wellll. high density chips are not at their peak now.. I think your best bet is to just pick out 2 3x2gb kits at 2000. I like the corsair ones, but without a 980x with the 1.5x uncore multiplier, you're going to be having some really hard times with QPI voltage.

I have had my R3E for quite some time now and im very happy, atleast after i updated the bios to 1102

Now to my question, im thinking about getting a 3rd GTX470 and run a tri way sli setup.

    Is my Coolermaster Silent Pro M1000 enough to run 3 GTX470 and a i7 930 overclocked to 4.2GHz (21x200 1.4V).

Second of all, the manual says to use slot 1,3,4 for tri way, but the bridge they added in the motherboard package suggests 1,2,3, any thoughts around this?

If the PSU i have aint enough, what should i go with? AX1200 seems to have alot of issues still even though some have been fixed in later batches.

Thank you both very much for taking the time to help me.
I now think it could be a change of direction for me & go with Raid0 using OCZ Vertex 2E 120GB drives on SATA2.

I have a problem with my config, I have the computer freeze, often

I tested the OC with HyperPI 32M, LinX, OCCT, etc... is good (@stock is the same, while AUTO in the bios)
I tested the SSD Intel X25-E with the Intel Toolbox, no problem

what I could try to find the problem?

freeze it at any time, in IE, FF, Windows, etc. ...

bios 0011 and I feel that it may come long after the shift to 970 and ram @2000 (Dominator GT 2000 C7), I had a 920 before and the same ram but @1600

    thanks

Sorry for sounding dumb but what is the difference between alpha and beta and which one is a stabler release?

    Thanks for responding.

Changing out my old Motherboard for a R3E produced these results with my Vertex SSD's (on an LSI controller)

The best I could ever reach with an old nvidia based motherboard

New R3E board with same windows install

    I can't imagine the results upgrading to 120GB vertex's would bring !
    Meanwhile, Boy am I happy

    R3E Rocks!!

Had no problem booting to this. But it seems that my keyboard and mouse intermittently dropping out. Can't say I've ever had an problem with an overclock like that. Hell it even ran a few minutes of folding@home and did not crash.

When experiencing a freeze the first thing I check is the memory http://www.memtest.org/ then video card (swap it out for another old card), also your SSD may be an issue (try using a HDD for a while)

I just installed my REIII last night with a new i7 930 and no matter if I am running stock or overclocked, Vcore is blank in CPUZ.

Anyone have this problem or know why it's happening?

Still can't figure out why vcore doesn't show in CPUZ.

Just got everything put together last night and had some time today to play. Was able to get 4.2Ghz 21x200 and 4.4Ghz 21x210 LinX 5 runs stable but wanted to see how far I could push this new 930.
