    Problem!

So i just got a Kinetic 5.1 system for free, i know its not the best of systems, but its better than my tv's speakers, ha, and its surround at least!

    Anyways, here's my dilema.

It's a bit older, so no HDMI or no Component, just Composite (RWY) hookups

What can i do here to hook this up to my Bluray and get full surround?

Im a bit new to this whole thing.

I have a cheap Magnavox bluray for now btw

It is the Kinetic KA-4210 system but w/ KA-5500 towers as the fronts and 4210's as the rears. From what i can tell, it was a pretty pricey system, but idk.

Upon further investigating, it looks like these seem to be "white van" scam speakers, as in asian junk.
Well, idc, i got em free haha, and they sound better than my tv's speakers.

With a set top blue ray you can't do anything. HDMI acts as the Blueray's first line of DRM (Defense as they see it). The best analog you'll get is Stereo. The Coax or Optical out should allow DTS or DDL.

The other way around this is adding a Blue-ray to you HTPC and then use your Analog out. I use PowerDVD 9 With BD support.

For that we should thank BOTH (AMD and Intel) companies!

your best option is optical out which is what was already mentioned. Otherwise you kind of are SOL, optical out does not transfer 6 separate channel to my knowledge which is exactly what surround sound requires.

optical or coax digital WILL output 5.1 if it is dolby digital or DTS. but i doubt the speakers have a decoder built in.

For those who think Piracy is OK, this is an extreme version of what happens with Copy Right Infringement. All of the arguments like; "Nothing was stolen, they lost nothing so it is OK" is BS. Incidents like this pretty much prove what is wrong.

The company makes great stuff. A friend's uncle left a her a mid sized set that will give B&W, Klipsch and anything else on the AVS forum a run for the money.

    The real Company.
    http://www.kineticaudio.com/

They are known by the elongated K and do make sweet products.
But they have a "Swappmeet" version like the ones Breathmetal got, glad he didn't pay anything

    The first fakers
    http://www.kineticloudspeaker.com/

Then they supposedly have fakers of the fakers made in China that aren't crossover correctly, aren't balanced (bad Ohm loads), and have a tendency to mess up Sound systems. I got an online friend who switched out speakers with drivers from Ebay and Parts Express because as he said his wife liked the way they looked. She got scammed in a Wal-Mart parking lot. I didn't say anything because BM already explained.

If it is too good to be true, more times than not, it isn't true. Geesh guys, paying $175 for $3500 ain't goin' to happen.

Their Logo is known better than their name.
