Looks like scaling is fixed.
Is 5970 dual 6870's or is it the true successor to the 5870?
edit: I am retarded, I misread 5970 for 6970.

Thanks monkey.. Exactly what i was looking for. Hmm.. 6870's in Xfire looks nice except i'm not happy with just running 2 cards.
480's price NEEDS to drop

41 db under load, and 121 watts under load. That's pretty damn impressive.
Im drolling at 6850
6850 is much faster than i expected; amd just destroyed pretty much all value the 460 offered if 6850 is priced at the same level as 460 and 6870 takes over the 5850 price point, i thought that 6850 is going to match 460 1gb not exceed it
EDIT: power efficiency is much better than expected; can't wait to see overclocking results on water!

only one review and you make that judgement ???
they will ... they will .. if amd is putting the squeeze in the mid high range nvidia will need to either get a 28nm product out or refresh the architecture to make it more viable in price/performance ... so i expect some price drops for sure
HD6870 is right there where I expected (ok I expected it to be closer to HD5850 than 5870 actually) but HD6850 is doing a lot better than I expected, I can see why Nvidia got such a sudden urge to do drastic price drops... finally competition brings down the prices... about time... Imagine if Barts XT with 1120 SPs can get THIS close to HD5870 then it will be a walk in the park for HD6950 to beat HD5870 and not to mention HD5970 with 1920 SPs...

considering power consumption, i wouldnt be shocked if clocks were limited cause they were running such a low voltage. we were told the 6870 was going to be like a 5850 in power draw, but its clearly much lower
i didnt think i would be buying a new gpu till 28nm, but if the perf/watt and perf/$ is this Fing good on the 6850, i think it might be time to give in, especially if it can overclock just as well as a 6870.

Performance numbers are indeed great, but AMD spoiled us with 48xx and 58xx. What is extremely good is power consumption. You basically get nearly 5870/5850 performance going to 6870/6850 with massive power draw drop(60-70W) at the same time and much better CF scaling. It's a pure win, kudos to AMD!
lower voltage should give out more headroom ... but maybe they had refference boards ... and those might not scale nicely .. all im saying is wait and see before making those sort of claims based on one review only .. and since the numbers do look good i cant imagine non refference cards![]()
£199 @ OcUK for HIS HD6870, not bad, not bad at all. That's like 225 EUR and that usually corresponds to around $250 on US sites (that's comparing cheap european sites/countries vs US cuz often we pay same figure in euro what americans pays in USD in Finland and several other european countries with VAT included).

Did you realized that guru3d had used same numbers for GTX 460 768MB/1GB as in the 12 july review of GTX 460, and from there there were released until now, 3-4 new drivers...
Look in the 12 july review....
