    You don't have to but you will be buying phyobya ext cables and a fan controller my recommendation the new lamptrons fc touch. 1 spliter cable per rad. Plus splitter for whatever case fans you have.

    Basically its a personal thing on what you think looks nice and how your laying out components. I have no front bays so everything has to go to the bottom back. So they have to reach 5-7 feet around case edge.

    If you have a front bay and putting fan controller there its much shorter.

    I know what extension cables are, but what is split cables? I get the name, but I don't understand how they work compared to the extension cables.
