Wow Mr. FEAR, very nice numbers indeed!
Yes, the 1880 has big shoes to fill coming along behind the 12xx.
For me, the jury is till out on 1880/acards.
When I've been able to get the 4gb cache to work - performance has been - maybe - as good as the 1231 but as yet, I cannot say it is better.

    PCIe-Clock is the key

    from 100 to 120MHz = 1600MB/s. to ~1920MB/s. (both 20%)

And yes, @ PCIe 125MHz i get errors with the 1261...
Does the intigrated network controller work with that high pci-e, and does the soundcard work?

DCARC-6120-8 is the correct battery according to Tekram

Yesterday when I got home from work, I could see a signal coming to my monitor but I couldn't get the desktop to come up. I hit the reset button but the controller wouldn't get past the bios. It timed out over and over and kept rebooting my comp and I could hear a steady beep coming from the card. After disconnecting the battery back-up and turning the power supply off I was able to get it to initialize. Booted into windows and everything seems ok. I called Tekram and their tech support said I probably had a card so I called NewEgg and they are sending me a replacement but now I'm thinking it might not be the areca and it might be the P6T Deluxe. I had recently flashed it to accommodate the i7-980 and there was a note to upgrade the onboard SAS bios which I don't use but enabled it and flashed it. Today I had no problems? Any ideas?

check your error log on the controller. copy/paste if you find anything unusual...

i have had an issue where it almost seems like the battery is keeping bad info or something on the card myself twice. almost the same symptoms now that i think of it. each time i had to disconnect the battery, reboot the system, then power down and reconnect the battery. it was when i first got the BBU so i chalked it up to it being in the charge cycle. but it does seem that each time if it didnt boot initially that removing the battery fixed it.
is your bbu new? i bought mine off of ewiz and it looked used when it came in. i was worried initially that it was defective because of this, but then the issue went away.
EDIT: did it say firmware timed out briefly before the reboot cycle?

I got the battery directly from Tekram the same time I got the memory. It showed up as 88% charged when I got it and looked new. There was nothing unusual in the log at all which really leads me to believe it might be a conflict with the P6T. When I first got the P6T it wouldn't boot into windows installed on the 1230 until the mobo bios was updated. I'll have a new 1880 Monday that will eliminate the areca as the problem. NewEgg has the best customer service I've ever seen. They sent me a prepaid return shipping label and shipped the new card out overnight

I changed the stripe size from 64 to 128.

It's hard to find a 4GB Ram for ARC-1880, how about 2GB Ram?

Is it easy to find a 2GB module for ARC-1880?

A NEW Areca BBU ARC-6120BA-T113 is only compatible with the Areca ARC-1880ix-12/16/24 ports controllers to keep the 4GB memory longer in cache in case of power outage...
Does it mean if use the ARC-1880ix-12 with 4GB memory cache that must be installed the new Areca BBU ARC-6120BA-T113?

You must not - you can.

Does the 1880 support only 4GB-modules?

    The 1880 supports a single 1GB, 2GB or 4GB stick.
(you cant upgrade memory on the LP cards or the IX-8)

PCIe Clock is set at 101. Until I get better cooling for my video card or get a new one, I wouldn't dare o/c pci-e.

Since I flashed the P6T onboard sas controller I haven't had any lock-ups. I just reconnected the battery to see if that might have been the problem.

yeah im leaning to that. works without the battery, then issues with it on. might be like mine, and not happen again.
its almost like if for some reason you have an errant boot where the firmware times out if you hve the battery on there, it wont reboot correctly unless you disconnect the battery. earlier i tried pushing the pci-e again, and it caused it not to boot, and i had to pull my battery so i think we are having same issue here. when i was pushign pcie before i didnt have the bbu so i didnt run into the issue. I think the battery is allowing the controller to 'remember' it isnt booting correctly, or that it is timed out, so it doesnt try again. maybe some type of protection feature. who knows?

I've been up and running all weekend without any incidents and the BBU is connected. I don't understand how but it seems like flashing the P6T onboard sas controller fixed the problem I was having???

    Areca 1880ix-16 12xAcard9010 UD7/980x@4.5 xp32

    Good evening all,
Finally making a little progress with the Areca 1880ix-16.
The 4GB Unigen came yesterday, it seems to be working well.
    Screen shot below is xp32, 12xAcard 9010, UD7/980@4.5, pcie@107, memory – slow
W7x64 might be a little faster as I have to use scsiport (not storport) with xp32
Controller settings may not be optimal, need to spend some more time with that.
Acards all are still set to sata-150, probably losing a little performance there.
The jury is still out as to if this is faster than the 1231 for Acards.
Access times are coming down nicely.
Comparing this to my previous 1231/acards – I might not be too far off the pace – see - http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=249760

    settings -

    Just a quick question.

I am having corruption issues with 4 F40 drives seems to be the ssd's. Every now and then I get boot inaccesable or I have a lot of corrupted files very random I can usually recover with a windows 7 disk and load the drivers from the areca disk, but it's a pain. The intels I have seem to be fine.
Is anyone else having coruption issues with the Areca 1880 with latest firmware or have any ideas why I am having this problem.

It's prob a firmware issue with the f40 they seem to go to sleep on me sometimes they are fine then the next minute they fail to boot. i have turned off hibernate etc. I have an RMA in to Corsair, but I really think its firmware related and might be fixed sometime soon with the next release for the ssd's so don't wnat to go through hassle of sending them back trouble is I cant rely on the drives in this state.
    System:

    Asus P8P67 Deluxe 2600K 4.8Ghz 5970 4GB Corsiar GT 2000 Areca 1880i & Corsair F40 and 2 Intel 80 Watercooled DDC 120.3

You might want to check and see if the F40s have new f/w available.
I would also expect areca to send out one or two f/w updates over the next several months.
