Crossfire/SLI is not supported by the Hydra chip and that is what dual GPU cards are seen as.

Yeah, no 4 GPU capability yet.

That really is a shame. That and the fact that my ioXtreme would be x1 speed. Seems like I may have to pass on this board afterall.

Did i hear correct, us HD 5970 users wont be able to use this board, even though we put our cards in slot 1 or 3 this board wont accept x2 dual gpus.

If so, i have been waiting all this time and now we find this out, im better of getting the latest gigabyte board at least i know my card will run great.

Also when will the next generation of mobos come out eg 990fx + new AMD chips, as i might skip this generation since they say from 790fx to 890fx is not much of jump or improvement.

What do you all think ?

You should be able to use them in slots 1 and 3 but not the other slots as Hydra does not support the dual GPU cards. Expect the 900 chipsets at the same time the Zambezi's become available.

native X fire works, hydra does not with X2 gpu's.

Shut hydra off and they will work fine.

890 boards currently have better support for X6 imo.

phew that was a close call. i will become a asus member once again, cant wait.

I think someone on here said the price point for the uk for the extreme is £290, if this is correct to me thats just ripping people off, fair dues the board seems really good but i bet you then next gen boards from all companies will all be doing this multi gpu support and most probably improving the technology as well.

I dont see the 990fx boards from all manufactures selling at that ridiculous price ?

    Hello,

I have some questions about this motherboard and hope good answers.

1.) The Asus memory list is not really long and did anybody try any tests with another memories like Corsair Dominator or OCZ (more than 6 GB)?
2.) Blue tooth can be switched off in the Bios? I don't like any access possibilities from outside.
3.) How is the overclock chance with more than 6 GB memory?

I want to buy this motherboard for a good and stable overclock.

    My wish components:

    1090T
    Crosshair 4
    Corsair XMS3 Dominator 8GB (4x2GB) CL8-8-8-24
Any SSD from Intel (Postville G2)
GFX will be a ATI or Nvidia (it depends from the experience with the overclock)
    PSU will be a OCZ (~800W - 1000W)

What do you mean about this?

    Thanks in advanche

8 gig is more cpu dependant than the mobo........the mobo can do it fine if the cpu you get is up to snuff.

Blue tooth can physically be installed or removed.....so yes acess can be blocked....

Once again OCability with 8 gig relies on cpu more than the mobo........if the cpu has a strong IMC than it will be fine.

And the 1090T should work with 8 gig no? Or it's just a luck/bad luck to get a CPU with the right IMC, which can be good for an OC?

Do you have any good cpu steppings for this?

I am sure, that nobody did test it with those Corsair memories. Asus doesn't have those brands in their list, so I "will" get any troubles with them.

I would opt for some PSC based ram, seem to be a tad more forgiving. I think gtx 3 is psc based.

1090 will work if IMC is good.

Hmh, it seems, that I will need enough luck to get the right components for this.

For the Dual Channel mode. I will better use 2x4 GB instead 4x2 but I need a guaranteee for the memories, which are compatible with the ASUS. I will ask Corsair about this and share the information here.

GSKill Trident PC3-12800 works flawlessly in 2x2GB mode. Runs at 1600 or 2000MHz juuuust fine. My CPU hates 4x2GB though... I just can't overclock it too much or it won't handle them.

Anyone had issues getting dual channel to post? Stuck on the dram diagnostic led.. Single channel works fine.
Tried a C3 965 + 1090, and two pairs of RAM, one of them is on the QVL. Same issue with bios 0243 and 0402..

    What's wrong with Asus ?!
It sounds discouraging, but the fact is this board with 0243 bios has the same bouncing problem of volt./HT/CPU Freq. as C4F....WTF

    As a customer, I expected a lot more from a HKD2,800 board !!!

We got best HT results with Hyper rams... some issues on our sample with the Gskill Flare kit and the 1200 ram divider...

Till now I really the boards efficiency, HT clockability... only Vdimm is a bit out of whack 1.65 is close to 1.7... rest is pretty cool to me...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Same result with hypers, sadly.. Seems like a bad channel

Goes back tomorrow, but board is not in good supply here yet, so will probably take a while to get a new one :/

we had a 330 wall at first, have a look at massmans settings at hwbot : http://www.hwbot.org/forum/showthread.php?t=12695

With my Sempron I couldn't get the 1200 divider to work, with PJ's CPU seems to be no biggie... though we only had 0243 bios...

What's very impressive with this board is the high HT clocks and ram speeds ( similar to the 890FXUD5 )

I tried installing they Hydralogix driver 1.7.102 that was released on monday and it will not install. The driver gets to the point of restarting after uninstalling the old driver but when you restart the system becomes unstable because the system doesnt have a driver for PCI device 27 (Hydra 200). When you go to install the 1.7.101 or 1.7.102 drivers they will get to preparing to install and fail because they cant find any hydra hardware. 1.6.109 works just fine and is the only driver I have that works. 1.7.101 worked before but will no longer work. There is something Lucid changed in the installation system from 1.6 to 1.7.10X. Anyone else have problems installing the drivers.

    Troubleshooting History:
Tried installing inside windows ---- Failed
Tried installing in safe mode ------ Failed
Reinstalled the 260.89 driver ----- Failed
uninstalled 1.6.1 driver manually -- Failed

    I haven't had any problems with 1.7.102. Using 460s in slots 1 and 4 with 260.99 drivers. Win7 64Bit.
