I have 1 fan in my system, and i can still hear it.
when my machine is idle i want it to shut off, but when my machine goes into 100% CPU load it would be nice that it turned on.
maybe i wont need a fan on my machine
just finished my waterblock for my board

still on my dead board... going to RMA next week once i get this block installed in my machine

this is the clearance for my video card. Just fits

PowerColor HD5770 Eyefinity5 video card I'm going to use,
almost finished the block for that

    Hi there,

nice soldering work. Just on a side note, has anybody ever wondered why the chip in the bottom left corner of the board is being cooled by the heatpipe block?

It's a simple gigabyte rebranded JMicron JMB 0363 SATA/IDE controller...and needs no cooling at all. You can find those on many cheaper boards with much less fancy cooling...

You can use Speedfan to control fan speed for the CPU_Fan header, but I haven't found a way to use any of the other headers on the UD7 except at 100%.

To use Speedfan you'll have to disable SmartFan in the BIOS, forcing CPU_Fan to run at 100%, and then use Speedfan to control speeds. Speedfan allows you to control a fan dynamically based on a chosen temperature; I have one fan controlled this way by CPU temp.

Once you get Speedfan setup you can run it as a task at startup.

well I tried it, and unfortuatly RPM of the fan didn't change. guess it only works on PWM fans Mine isn't...
    so no luck there.
strange that gigabyte would put all these fan headers on the board with no way to contol then all.

    Yo man!
It looks like a graet work. Let us know how it is cooling your stuff.

    @Amurtigress,
I was always wondering why a JMicron JMB 0363 SATA/IDE controller needs this special cooling on this board. First I thought there must be some kind of mystery the way Gigabyte stresses this god damned chip but this board won´t stress this controller more than any other boards. It is all pomposity isn´t it?

well I won't get a chance to install it for a couple weeks
I use my machine all week for work. so any changes i usually do on Saturday, so any screw ups i can revert it back in time on Sunday to work Monday.
next weekend I'm out of town so it won't happen till following weekend.

will also have to redo my ram block to change the outlet, so that it lines up with MB block inlet of by the PWM

A bit off topic but I just figured out that going from 101MHz to 102MHz with PCI-e on rev1.0 of this board switched the two LAN ports from 1000Mbps to 100Mbps
    Comp 1 : NCASE M1, Asus Z170I PRO Gaming, Intel i7-6700K, G.Skill 2x4Gb 3466MHz, Samsung 950 Pro (512), Samsung 840 Pro (256), WD Red (5TB), Asus nVidia GTX 980 4Gb, Silverstone SX600-G, LG 34UM95
    Comp 2 : Commodore Amiga 4000D, Cyberstorm MK2 68060 50Mhz 128Mb, Cybervision 64 4Mb, FastATA MK-VI, Indivision AGA MK2cr

interesting since i run my PCI-e at 105 and use both Lan ports at times, currently the one is running at 1Gpbs.

Have you added some volts to your PCI-E ports ?

At what bclk are you running to need 105 pcie? I had used 105 for 215bclk 24/7 for a long time, dropped it to 102 and it is still stable at 215 bclk.

I'm a lazy overclocker... found a template that worked and only did a few changes.
If I could find a template that would get me up to 4.5Ghz I'd take it...
I prefer to mod,,, hate the endless reboot cycle, change a setting reboot, test, change a setting reboot.

well it does the job, and it fits my budget.
also i like making stuf like that, not realy into the off the shelf stuf.
my whole machine is function over form.
copper T's and elbows instead of the 'bitspower' bling.

MadHacker, I havent tried this with power savings options enabled. If this is not stable can drop to 210bclk and use same settings for 4400mhz or 205 bclk for 4300mhz(adjust vcore as needed). I use these settings, and to go higher only thing I change is vcore, vtt and pcie freq. if needed (mem timings and freq will depend on your ram). This has worked on 4 bloomfield chips.

    Thanks...
I'll compare the settings and see what is different.
I'll try it once I get the waterblock install on my MB.
last time I tried overclocking to 4.3Ghz I killed my board running linx.
so I bought another. used the dead board to build my full cover MB block
    now to RMA it.

edit:I have 6 sticks of Corsair Dominator 1866 ram, watercooled, so without overclocking my ram i should be able to reach 233 bclk

^^ I have used 215bclk/4500mhz for around 8-9 months now, board is still running good.

If you did not set these to 700 your self you can not just change them to 800/900. Thats what they should be by default. If they are not that way you have to Load Optimized defaults. then manually reset your overclock settings.

102 pci-e should get you to 224-225 bclk as that is what is limited on the EX58 boards. X58a boards raised pci-e cap from 102.

    OC Nub,

Were you able to get your 220bclk (in your sig) stable? If so, what did you change from 215?

I can get into windows and run things ok @ 21x220, but it fails on Intelburn maximum.

    Thanks,

I use these settings, and to go higher only thing I change is vcore, vtt and pcie freq. if needed (mem timings and freq will depend on your ram). This has worked on 4 bloomfield chips.

Hi all, OC Nub thank you very much....I have tried this settings and works fine....before that I was not able to reach 210 or 205.....great job! I didnt expect it worked with PLL 1.6. One answer...its better pcie 103 or 105....does it affect to temps or any other thing

    Many thanks

clocking currently with my X5680 on the rev 1.0 UD7

    it does not like 190bclk+

im guessing it is just because the cp isnt supported officially?

    its currently sat at 182 X 22 @ 1.23v

    memory at 1820 CL7-8-7-20 1T

I copied his template and made the changes to the right of his settings. He had used that temple from someone elses settings, some people do set clock skews at 700/700/0/0 manually after loading optomomized defaults in bios.

I used the same settings but powersavings were disabled, not sure what vcore was set to in bios and HT was disabled for 4620mhz. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=767

@PLAY-911, if its stable at 103 leave it there, you may need to raise it for higher bclk.
