I can never come close. will lynnfield do higher bclk than clarks or it doesnt matter? I can't believe you were on air the whole time. I've never tried high bclk on this board and just gave up on it and went to GA h55 boards but after seeing the contest I guess its possible. I just gave up too early. Im on the 2001 bios (latest) and its not helping things at all. Ive dropped to the lowest qpi, slacked my ram out and ran the lowest multi. If its dependent on pciE frequency than that is my problem as I have a LSI raid card connected and a 5750 and havent run the pci bus past locked 100. RIght now Im just screwing with the old p5k3 deluxe for the october hw challenge. but i am coming back in here now and then to check on you guys. BTW. I dont know about you but Ive pretty much put this maxIII F through hell and back. insulated several times, grease in the slots and socket 5 coats of conform over time and she still posts everytime. Ive been through 10 or so 1156 boards since Ive had this board and ive had it since december of last year and has been my trusty 24/7 rig through the summer. Im typing this while connect to the board. If there is an award for toughest motherboard Asus should get it hands down. The build quality is 2nd to none and bios always shows what the setting you have selected on the right pane to show you what it changes. That is so helpful. I never feel lost on an ROG bios. speaking of asus im about to insulate a 3-4 year old p5k3 dlx for the 1st time. Ive had it all these years and it posted 1st try. I just put a new bios battery in and that was it. guys keep pushing the boards. I wish I could participate but I need some preliminary bclk lessons first.

I can do this on a mainstream H55 board to, actually was earlier, or gene or this board.

Best i can tell you is test test test. alot of time time/energy = decent results even with the worst chip in the world.

I prefer since 99% of time I can't or don't have the luxury of buying multiple chips........that leaves you one other option.

Squeeze the living hell out of every peice of hardware you can get your hands on.

I know you man and you take every setting and spend countless hours and work your ass off in every bios setting. I am so impatient ever since I got into ln2 but before that I used to be just like you. I would know that board inside and out by the time I was done. I used to sit for days with the neo2 and dfi ultraD and tccd with only watercooling. I need to get back in that habit again and quit blowing money on Ln2 every week. I feel if i maxed it out on stock before hand Id be a lot better bencher on Cold. but lately my method is simply get the board. unpack it. stick stock cooler on and install windows and drivers. take it off. insulate the board stick the container on and learn as i waste ln2 while trying to get a decent setting to submit. by the time I learned the bios the ln2 is cashed and by the time I refill the dewar either the board no longer works or i forgot the settings.

B this is amazing! I was just installing media encoder on the p5k3 and saw this on my blackberry. pm me with your address so I can see how long the drive is to Rhode Island. If its not too bad I can drive up friday night and get the dewar filled on sat before noon. Does your guy take amex? does this round of the competition end before then? check your pm.

This chip did 265 with max multiplier on P55A-UD7, should be possible to get all the way up there using LN2, over VapoLS...

Comes complete with QPI coldbug at -90 at "optimal" QPI, lowest QPI might get you to -115, cores suck, the list goes on.

Ok gave this 860 a go but only 235 bclk on first try and some really strange bios issues. it gives different post codes compared to 530 and 655K, after bclk crash it will not give anything except CPU Init on remote Poster and no leds on the post card)...Seems that baby needs cold for BCLK - 32m crashing with 230+ after the temp goes over -35. While we are at posting mug shots - my look on that 860 ^^



CPU anyway is interesting, just did DDR2200 32m first time on 1156 / 2450 suicide - never had a CPU with good IMC for 1156. Too bad I'll be on a business trip for 4 days next week so further RAM testing has to wait.
