New Koolance *Dual D-5* Bay Reservoir! (RP-450X2)

Here's a product that might interest some of you: http://www.koolance.com/water-coolin...roduct_id=1086

It's a dual 5.25" bay reservoir that allows one or two Laing D-5 pumps (two sets of inlet/outlets in back). Pumps are not included, of course. Here's some of the product description:

Machined from a solid piece of acetal for maximum reliability, the RP-450X2 has a thick acrylic window and front aluminum bezel. Two sets of G 1/4 BSP threaded inlet and outlets appear on the back, designated "P1" and "P2" for each pump. If one pump is used, an acetal blocker is included to occupy the second pump location.

    There are four pre-drilled holes for optional 3mm LEDs around the acrylic window. CD bay mounting screws are included. Capacity = approx. 10 fl oz (300ml). Weight without pumps = 2.5 lbs (1.1kg). Total dimensions = 5.8" (14.8cm) W x 5.4" (13.6cm) L x 3.3" (8.5cm) H.

mmm, nice looking design. you are trying to steal watercooling :banana::banana::banana: crown
Very interesting pump placement, solving hardness of placing as big pumps as D5s are in just two 5.25 bays. DD's with classic placement IIRC was 3*5.25.
BTW, are aluminium or white front panels planned, or only black res model?

Right now, black only. Depending on popularity, we might offer alternative faceplates.

Hmm, only now reading description of res @ website.
I wonder if 'acetal blocker'/dummy pump can be bought separate/if it's universal enough to be usable with other vendor dual pump tops?
    P.S.
Imho it makes sense to release similar 'dummy pump' for DDC dual tops aswell.

DB: Maybe vendors just predict rise of popularity in D5 pumps in light of recent DDC failure polls?

BTW, imho good choice with default choice of black color. Lately it seems that most big hi-end cases (that usually get used for LC) are black inside-out. Imho it's better then eg. aquacomputer defaults of clear aluminium + separate orderable black frontplate replacements.

    God that thing is sexy
Cheers Tim !! Definitely gonna get me one of these beauties .
    Wicked stuff again
    Cheers !!

P.S. Is there a way to use 2 pumps on a single loop ? and would it be possible to use 2x 90 degree compressions to bridge the 2 pumps ? P1 out -> P2 in should work right ?

Sum up prices of two single tops or one dual and price of bayres, it won't result in that much less, +you'll need extra fittings for them not for free aswell. And it won't be that compact as this package.
    EDIT
Though wait a sec. I'm trying to figure out how are these pumps interconnected. Serial? Or two separate tops with common reservoir? Or two completely separated reservoirs aswell (looking on two fillports)?

Rereading description on website seems later one, as "Building dual loops .."

I wonder if there will be single loop serial connected dual D5 restop aswell.

That looks bloody fantastic. By far the best dual pump anything I've yet to see.

    Thank you Sir Churchy
I think this is meant for dual loops and if we want to run a single loop then we have to do it using 1 pump and use the Acetal plug for the 2nd pump ?
That is also the reason i asked if it would be possible to connect Pump 1 output to the pump 2 input using 2x 90 degree fittings without damaging the 2nd pump ?
I want to run a single loop ( GTX360 rad ) but want to use 2x D5 vario pumps for peace of mind.
    Cheers guys!!

Nice! I'm starting to see a lot of bayres with mounted pumps; good solution if you're looking for space managment.

It's hard to shown even in diagrams, but I've tried to illustrate it below. The reservoir is shared with both pumps, and there are two separate inlets which are direct paths into the reservoir (P1 "In" and P2 "In") on the rear.

The outlets for both pumps draw liquid from the front reservoir using separate pipes. This is why one pump sits a little higher than the other. Each "out" pipe goes to the pump and gets shot out the back.

Below is a side diagram showing just the outlet flow for pump #1. The inlet is behind this and just a straight path. (Pump #2 is inverted on the other side, but has the same flow pattern).

We cut it out of a solid block of acetal, and there's a lot of processing involved for the various paths and pump junctions. That influenced the price. But in my opinion, this came out smoother and there's only the one O-ring for the front acrylic window.

It looks like it is designed to run parallel loops, not dual loops seeing it has a shared res.
