I've noticed that too, my Asus GTX460s are burning up at the VRM area and I've even lapped the VRM heatsink and used some AS Ceramique instead of the crappy thermal pad. Beyond that would be better lapping and keeping just the VRM heatsink and using screws instead of the rather odd backplate with pushpins Asus have chosen to use. On the plus side I can do 855MHz @ 1.05v.
