8354s and 4gigs. I'm going to play around with loading Windows when I have some spare time.

Think it rebooted on me yesterday afternoon, further testing required.

Good luck with it Ben, are you putting Ubuntu on it? Any chance of a few build photos as you go through?

I'm still waiting on loads of parts to arrive - I should have mine up and running in about 2 weeks hopefully.

good luck guys! kryja make sure you have a dremel or something similar to trim down those retention brackets. that goes for everyone else waiting for parts if you have your brackets you might as well start trimming them now

I made short cuts in the places shown in my advanced diagram, the whole ledge snaps right off after you weaken these areas. Was the cleanest and fastest way I found. Then I just snapped off the side where the bracket arm went.

I just heated up a stanley blade on the hob. I left those little feet in place though - had to file them a bit to make it fit. I didn't screw the bracket down tight - just tight enough. I will be using Ubuntu.

    Q & A!!!

    What's wrong with this picture!

Take out the blue wire, shuffle all of the others along and put the blue wire in the receptacle that doesn't make contact with anything.

    Good answer Jacka

Next question; What house hold item can I use to remove the wires?

Flat screwdriver, drawing pin, tip of the Stanley (be careful).

Just press down the tab, you don't need to use much force, and gently pull the wire. If you need to use a lot of force you're doing it wrong. Just takes a little practise. If you press down on the tab too much you might need to lift it up with your finger nail. It only need to be enough to hold it in so it doesn't fall out when you connect it to the header.

    I would recommend for trimming your brackets to cut all the way to the outer walls like the below;

Once you've bent the cpu leaver with some pliers they simply slip over the top

Whatever you do, if you reuse the fans on something else, DO NOT plug them into a 4 pin header without moving the wires back first. Or you could let out the magic smoke from the fan or even the board (ask me how I know about doing that kind of thing...).

Thank you for the pictures and the updates, Kryja! Keep up the good work, so that the machine may do good work!!! I hope to get mine running soon. Being 100% travel is not allowing any time to build mine. I think I have everything except a DVD drive [which I could pull from my main crunching machine...now where is the power switch again?]

Been there, done that. Blew a fan header on another board once and fried the fan. Whoops...

Sparky by name, Sparky by nature eh?

Thanks for the concern. I don't think I'll be using those for anything other than this board but you never know. Putting it under water is would be fun - though my wallet begs to differ

I'll try to take photos of any little nuances I find

Ho boy, I definitely have a piece of bad hardware somewhere. I'm thinking video card though (crosses toes) so thats an easy fix. Could barely get it to post yesterday when I got home and then the video was going in and out till it hit an unrecognizable video range.

Where do you think the name came from
Well that, and also from a few shocking experiences. 300+V hurts, by the way.

    It's Friday! Update time

She's alive! Well kinda.. I get no video - I assume it's because the board is a fussy bugger and my 4650 isn't supported.

When she's on the 4 leds on the back, from the power switch to the usb's, are; nothing, nothing, green & orange - does this mean anything to anyone No fancy light show like my sossaman.

When I mash the keyboard it doesn't beep at me - should it? Nor does the num lock light turn on or off.

As I only have the 4650 I think the next thing to is to buy a pci graphics card like a ati rage or something. Suggestions?

I used a PCIe x550 in mine. Started right up with it. It does seem to be picky on cards.
