Hey guys, can u post your bios settings to achive that high bclk? Im cracking my head to pass 238 without slowmode, with slowmode its the same. I got the same bclk on my Gigabyte UD5X58-Extreme. Think ive used every volt possible to adjust there... im pretty stuck..

I'd like to known, with a 920, memory to 2000 and uncore to 4000, I had with Everest (cache and memory benchmark)

    Read: 21600
    Write: 17416
    Copy: 24473
    Latency: 39.1

with a 970, memory to 2000 and 4000 to uncore

    Read: 20400
    Write: 17100
    Copy: 19950
    Latency: 40.5

the only thing to change (except the CPU) is that with the 920, it was 3GB (3x1) and with the 970 is 6GB (3x2)

I think in the bios should activate the C-STATE to the bench
is what can leave C-STATE always enabled? What influence on the h24?
    it requires more tension?

    thanks a lot

Very confusing. Looks like your QPI is running @16x. It is impossible AFAIK. Gulftown's SlowMode is 12x also. IDK, some bug, or something.

not bug for me dude.. every single time i try get over 255 bclk i get same qpi link

runs Again at 258 bclk both cpu-z and screenshots and get qpi at 4130mhz

cold air now right outside get this right for few min ago

I wanted to get some info on QPI voltages on this board. By default my QPI was set to 1.38v after I installed the board. Now that Im reading, it seems this is just above the max recommended voltage by Intel. Is the default QPI voltage 1.2v ? Why the hell was is set so high by default in the BIOS?

CPU will do 3.8 at all stock voltages (QPI 1.2v) and is stable on Prime @ 72C
CPU will do 4.0 at 1.25v Vcore and 1.25v QPI, Prime stable @ 80-82C

Hyperthread and Turbo functions are on and cores are at 40-45c at idle running at 4.0GHz Im not sure why the board was setup with QPI voltages 1.38v from the factory. Im happy with these settings/temps for 24/7 use.

What voltages do you guys get on the IOH and ICH on air?

    I'm getting

    Idle:
    40c ICH
    47c IOH

    Load:

    46c ICH

    55c IOH

All this after I replaced TIM and thermal pads. Does it look good on air?

you using the beefier heatsink on the board?
Mine are quite a bit lower with the big sink.

Im also doing a few other upgrades while Im at it. Im doing this this because the IOH still gets up to 70C when Overclocking. This is OK but I plan to push my system a lot further. Ive reached 4.5 so far with my 980X. I live in a very hot climate, ambient temp is constantly over 30C. I run my system 24/7 for gaming, encoding, benching, downloading, business, so it gets pushed pretty hard. Im changing the motherboard waterblock over to the GPU loop because it has a quad radiator mounted on the outside of the case where the CPU loop has a triple radiator mounted on the inside of the case.
What are you using to read the ICH/IOH temperatures? According to Everest it doesn't look like temps dropped all that much from adding the block. Although I never see the IOH get that high. Max it hits is around 55C and the ICH about 50C.

Anyone experienced this problem with Exermax Galaxy PSU 1000W and Asus R3E?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGSnBwbarHk

    This is what happens:

    1. I press start on my motherboard.
    2. PSU starts beeping.
    3. I switch the PSU off, and wait until all power is gone.
    4. Switch the PSU on again, and press start.
    5. Computer boots up normally.

Inside a case the little fan does wonders, on a benchtable there's loads of flow due to ram fans and co... Too bad it makes removing the GPU a bit harder...

I get around 60°C in a case setup, this with the CPU watercooled ( so little flow around the block ) --> this also with redone TIM... without it was way above 70°C under load...

I don't have that with the 1Kw DXX version, I had this kind of fail safe thingy when my rear PSU fan was blocked by the cables inside... could you check if it spins freely ?

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

The stock heatsink on the motherboard is useless, I get 78-100c while playing lol, without a fan, now but a huge 120mm fan at 5v to push air on it and its stable at 70-78c while gaming and idle. Ordered waterblock on it but yea ive not seen this bad heatsink on a high end motherboard EVER, even the Classified one is better. The Gigabyte Extreme could hold the temps near 50c idle and full to 60c. Same setup. But yea, the board shut down when reached 100c lol, never happened before... idiotic cooling.

I have had just about every major Intel Asus board since the middle of 775, and never seen this junk. It reminded me of the P2/P3 stock cooler days with the rectangle of wax.

Wow, I wonder if they are putting a blob of AS5 on top of the yellow crap cuz it sux so bad?

I found that the yellow stuff had hardened after awhile and it had become almost stone like. Never ran across anything like it since the wax days.

guys, just noticed that my CPU vcore is drooping. It hovers 1.250 and then 1.244v. I'd expect it to be rock solid 1.250. Can someone post the main BIOS settings to turn off all the power saving features?

Do I have to use the EZ Plugs for dual HD 5870 CF video card setup

In my configuration using the RIIIE I'm not using the EZ Plugs. Frankly I'm sort of scared to, I've had to RMA 6 RIIIE,s and I have a pet theory that part of the problems that I've had with this motherboard have something to do with the EZ Plugs. I do not know exactly what it is but I've chosen not to use them this time and the board that I have now seems to be functioning correctly. My question is, Do I have to use these power connection for a HD Radeon Crossfire setup with 2 HD 5870,s or not. I do not see why the video cards need any additional power besides the power that they get directly from the PSU and the manual doesn't explain anything in detail what these plugs do . What exactly does the EZ Plugs do anyway and how would I benefit from using them?. Your prompt replies will be appreciated

    Thanks

The EZ Plugs are there for high end overclocking of tri/quad sli/xfire.
Regular SLI setups don't need them for regular overclocks.

I'm running my GTX275's overclocked a decent amount without them, with no issues.

Same multiplier? If so, were you using the same timings on your memory?
I would guess different multiplier, thus different qpi link speed. That would affect your scores.

From what I understand, the EZ Plugs help in providing additional power when using multiple GPUs. I believe this is only necessary for extreme GPU overclocking or when using multiple high power video cards e.g. GTX 480s.

But as you mentioned, the power the video cards receive directly from the PSU is most likely enough to run stable considering your PSU is capable. And in your case I think everything in your system is fine and you are better off just not using the EZ plugs. Since it is a new feature it may just be a flawed design and nothing more. Just avoid it unless you have problems like artifacting (which is why you'd use EZ Plugs due to insufficient power, but you should not have this problem).
