To my understanding the, there is no SMART error issue if you use the latest bios.

As to whether it was only in a RAID config versus a single drive, I can't say for certain. All of the posters I saw that said they were getting a SMART error were running a RAID config.

    Hey Bullu$,

Where did you get your board? I have asked but neither Amazon or Newegg will confirm what rev. they are selling. I want a rev. 2 board so I can use the GOOC2010.W08 bios.

Don't know if he shipped out of the Netherlands tho, but if u want I can ask.

I was able to 3D bench at 4700mhz+ with bios F6, but with F7 I am unables to complete the CPU test in 06.

Have you tried GOOC2010.W08 ? It is designed for hard core OC. In lean mode, you can "enable" the disabling of OCP, which one poster over on tweaktown said gave him over 10,000 point higher CPU score in Vantage.

I believe he has rev 1 board, so that would not be possible.

I would love to see this bios for rev 1 mbo, but I kinda doubt that will ever happen.

Never tried F6 bios, my board come with F2 bios, I only play with F7 beta bioses. I don't like F7 final. It's bad for OCing in my case. I'm testing F7x, seems good for now, we'll see.

You're right, I should have checked his bios ver.

I wich they would come out with it for the rev1 boards also, then I could order the cheapest UD7 and not worry about what rev it was.

Since the UD9 has 24 phase power like the rev1 does and there is a OC bios out for it, it seems like it wouldn't be that hard. Maybe if enough rev1 owners make enough noise...

UD7 rev1.0 won't get GOOC bios cuz this bios is meant for "unlocked power" motherboards which rev1.0 doesn't support.
Btw who have issue with bios F7 in OC, try to disable Keyboard USB support, and disable anything related to USB in integrated peripherals, this settings are enabled by default but with betas and F6 this setting was always disabled by default. Also better use 101Mhz PCI-E instead of 100MHz.
The bad thing about rev2.0 ud7, that it looks cheaply made compared to the rev1.0 UD7, the UD7 rev2.0 PCB is made in China and rev1.0 is made in Taiwan and by the look the made in Taiwan PCB is much superior in quality, also the UD7 rev2.0 is down to 16phases instead of 24phases, I read the main reason for that to keep the ud9 the top line of giga x58 motherboard so they made the ud9 with 24 phases and down the ud7 with 16 phases.

Is this bios for rev1.0 boards? If so I will give it a shot for sure, Thanks.

    @Bullu$, nice LinX run

Edit: boldenc, Ill try disabling those, havent been able bench as high on F7 as on F6, maybe that is why

    Any update on the F7x?

I'm on F6x ATM. That's been the best so far for me.

I'm using F7x at the moment. I just installed the board recently and upgraded to this BIOS as I read other people said F7 isn't as good. Do you have to use F7 for the issue to be fixed?

I also want to start overclocking so I thought I'd start with this BIOS as I'm not an expert and didn't want to make overclocking harder.

Does anyone have a template or a link to a template for a Rev. 1 board to run a W3520 at 4-4.2GHZ? I'm a novice overclocker so I don't know all the settings to change. My RAM is G.Skill Trident 2000Mhz C9 that I'd like to run at 1600Mhz with 6-7-6-18 timings.

F7x already have the smart fix issue for sandforce ssd's.
F7 bios worked better for me than F7x, with F7x I had sometimes coold boot issues.
Template for any UD series will work fine the ud7, they all use same template now.

Ahh right thanks for that, so I should be OK with F7x then.

Do you have a link to a template that I can follow?

I can't recall is USB support enabled or disabled in F7 but I know that I did enable those in betas while I OC, storage, keyboard and mouse I enable those. Never had any issue with cold boot but I'm not sure how would that effect my OC?

Actually I like it for now, nothing to complain. It has been very snappy and stable overall for my OC.

    Overclock of gigabyte ga-x58-UD7 with i7 980X, 2x HD5970, corsair dominator GT 3 x 2GB 2000 MHz, 8 8 8 24 - everything watercooled.

What values should be changed and what are 'safe' changes in voltages ?

    QPI clock ratio X36
    Uncore clock ratio X18
Uncore frequency 3600 MHz (should be atleast 1,5 times memory frequency on gulftown?)

    Bclock 200 Mhz
    system memory multiplier (SPD) 10
    Memory frequency 2000
PCI express freq 100 (Did see somewhere that someone recommended to set this to 101 instead of 100 any benifit?)

    Loadline calibration level 2
    Cpu Vcore 1.3V
    xDynamic Vcore(DVID) disabled
    QPI/VTT voltage 1.3V
    CPU PLL default

    PCIE default
    QPI PLL default
IOH core 1.14 V (2 graphic cards, or should one look at count of gpu cores ? 2 on each card?)
    ICH I/O default
    ICH core default

    Dram voltage 1.66V

    settings on ram are 8 8 8 24

tried overclock cpu to 4,3 GHz but failed.

tried put up Vcore and Vtt but no success. Any other tweaks one must do ?
    currently running cpu at 4 GHz with Vcore 1.250 V and Vtt 1.2V bclock 200, ram 2000 MHz timings 8 8 8 24.

any tweaks in bios that would help me get last 20 MHz on core to make gpu cards run stable at core 1000/mem 1200 ?

Intel says the max safe voltages for cpu and qpivtt is 1.4v and memory 1.8v.
cpupll can go to 2v but you should be able to leave at 1.7, maybe even 1.6v.

See about half way down the page - http://i4memory.com/f55/intel-core-i...ts-here-22703/

Any hint is more than welcome?
I don't have USB keyboard and keeping it enabled caused cold boot in my case with bad OC recovery message.

I'm not sure about 101MHz but I think it helped me, it passed all stress tests with that. Also I noticed that Radaja use 101MHz PCI-E too so I used same and I tried it and worked fine.

Hey guys I got a problem as I can't flash the BIOS back to F7x.

This morning when I turned on my computer it froze at the Windows 7 login screen so I reset it, then upon reset the MB got stuck in an endless reboot cycle. I turned the PC off at this point and cleared the CMOS as I had to go to work.

When I got back this afternoon I turned the power back on as I also turned the PSU off and it started to boot again, but it had some kind of error and went back to an old Bios - F2.

I've got a Corsair Voyager 8GB USB stick and I can't seem to use it to flash the BIOS back to F7x.

When I try using QFlash it says no drive detected. It doesn't seem to detect the USB flash drive. I booted into Windows and the drive works there like normal. Anyone know WTF is going on here?

@ ice - some of my best oc's was with F2 - do you have a good reason to change?
Did you check to make sure usb storage is enabled in the bios?

edit - the other thing you could do is create a little fat partition on your HDD - then point qflash to that - to update from.

I figured F2 is a really old Bios and I should upgrade. I also want to get 1 or 2 Sandforce SSDs so I think I need to update as there are fixes in the newer BIOSes.

This is really weird. I updated the Bios with the USB stick last week. I wonder why it's not working. To answer your question, yes I did check if USB storage is enabled. I disabled it and then re-enabled it to make sure it's working, but it doesn't pick up the Flash drive now. Does the storage size of the flash drive make any difference?

@ ice - no - storage size should make no diff, i have used 16GB usb on this mobo - no problem.
Do you have a smaller one?
    Is there anything else unusual?
Maybe take the battery out overnight - stray capacitance?

edit - also unplug the power supply for overnight with battery out - (remove all sources of power).
