I didn' run the full CDM test, still experimenting with the settings.

Hardware:
Mr Anvil - for apples to apples - when you have a moment - rerun CDM @ 4000MB
Comparing AS SSD - looks like - 1880/4GB kills 1231/4GB
The X25E/Vertex combo doesn't quite matchbut here we go
cdm3_1880_8R0_X25EV2LE_SS64KB_4GB.PNG
I'll do a rerun using the Vertex'es only, not today though![]()

Hardware:
@ Mr Anvil - wow that's great - cerainly looks like 1880/4/SFs kills 1231/4/acards.
@ Mr FEAR, you out there my friend?
I think you need to pick up an 1880 and give it a try with your 4xR0 acards.
I would ask Mike but with an 1880 - he would just clean my clock in this bench (again!).![]()
Steve Anvil Paul Nizzen can anyone explane to me why do i have that kind of result??
ah steve awesome response, 41k is a nice achievement, i had 40300 tucked away but didnt expect 41k
dont think im out of the game yet though, will be fun to play with someone that is motivated, next week i will move from 1GB to 4GB cache and that should change my storage figures a little
game on !
anvil in crystaldiskmark, 4k write is the important one in this bench, that seems to be a good factor to test your array configurations on in terms of highest pcmv score
@steve-o...congrats man, unbelievable score, awesome! way to strike right back, was that even 24 hours??
There is more to get, and with Youngpro on your heels this will make for interesting competition! cant wait to see how this shakes out....exciting stuff!
best of luck to both of you!
@Anvil, i see that you have my numberi am dying to beat corsair, so close i can taste their sweat....excellent results.
watch out fellas, i get a 980X and it is all the way on! From the look of things my hdd runs are still better than anyones
My 920 has no more to give, time to move on i guess..
Some may talk trash about the PCMarks but i tell ya this, you have to be stable, and hardcore time invested in each and every run, this is difficult stuff!
things are moving fast now, i havent seen competition this heated on vantage, ever.
yeah the 4k low QD on this controller is just absolutely superb. excellent job from areca with their tuning for desktop. LSI is coming with a big kahuna very soon (tilt made a post) been waiting for this for a long time.....
@Tilt- i havent ran the memories suite in such a long time, i cant even find a result for it! I am in a transition period right now, doing something big-time different for me and this bench, but once i get ready i will run the bench and we will compare, and
of course i will be on Skype/MSN all tuesday![]()

with 980X man all you need is 4.2 to beat corsair hehehehe........
yea lol very true
been beating the hell outta this 920 DO
and a gtx 280
and six vertex gen 1, lost three of them in this war
not bad for some old school gear though, when i refresh it is on!

If that is the case then the C300 256GB is the drive to get.
Great show btw, keep Steve on his toes and I'm sure we'll see some more amazing scores.
Using my 24/7 setup
Don't forget about the storage/controller
Looks like Sandy Bridge could be the next record breaker.

Hardware:
i dont think i need to convince anyone in storage section that a raid controller is the way to go![]()
Thats true Dinos
Looking at corsair, they had both, even a high OC, their score could/should have been much higher.
-
Hardware:
i would love to see new Intel ICH kicking more ass though and scaling with at least 4x drives
that would be magic
it's more fun competing on cheap setups where more people can join in than buying $1K raid cards, ACARDS and stuff like that
Totally agree on that one.
I believe that could take a while though, SB will be 2x 6Gb/s ports, maybe the next high-end/workstation chipset will change that.
Meanwhile, theres always the SB850![]()

Man I wish I would have gotten the expandable memory card instead of the basic 1880i. Did not read enough before purchase. Perhaps I can return the card back to newegg and buy the expandable oneand give you guys a better run for your money
J/K
I'm very happy with the improvements of my overall system performance with current setup and your help.
Rock on guys

i'm gonna play too fellas but i dont have acards im going SATA150 iRAM old school![]()

Alright Mr dinos!
Based on what Mr Youngpro was doing with irams - you should do quite well.
I am also still ... investigating.![]()
u got any data 2vs4gb?
Good morning Mr. Dinos,
Regarding 2 vs 4GB controller cache - the data is not at my finger tips but if you compare the benches from last winter in the 9211 vs 9260 vs 1231-2G thread to the benches at the beginning of this thread you will get some indication.
For daily use - you would probably never notice a difference.
For highest pcmv scores - you can never have enough controller cache.![]()
