man talk about a run of bad luck. i wouldnt write off the whole of ssd's because of a bad experience, i would recommend picking up some intels or iddilinx ssd, maybe the sandforce is getting ya down. hope the issue isnt the sandforce though, i have one inbound.

i bought the crucial c-300 on day of release and it died also........newest firmware, mobos updates.read below well, the same drive died on anadtechs site also.this tech is to new for now im thinking at this point.were the guina pigs, not me for awhile as im done.threw my velicraptor 150 in and done.i dont run benchmarks all day,i game.speed is great but nothing without basic stabilty.im happy for all the guys who had nothing but good luck with them just not me a i guess...

seems like the making or breaking point is 1 month or less.and the weird part is there installed %100 correct and amazing parts surrounding the drives.im not the type either to tinker etc, install windows,1-2 games and thats it!.they run FLAWLESS for like 1-3 weeks then one day u turn on pc and blamo, dead, bluescreen, not recongnized...I have no time for these headaches anymore.

    railmeat,

how many SSDs have you tried?

I find this quite strange, I've got 20+ SSDs and not a single failure.

I have 5 various makes and models of SSD's ranging back from 2007 (Sandisk 32GB PATA) and all of them work fine with no issues, especially if you are running windows 7.

i tryed to install the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology 9.6.0.1014 files for 64-bit OS, but no possible because "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software".

So i went ot bios and enabled the AHCI in the sata mode, but after that no way to boot.
The system hang on the win 7 boot and than BSOD every time.
i also try to diasble all the ide and sata channel leaving just the OS HD ( patriot torqx 64gb) but no way.
To boot again i had to put the sata mode again on " IDE" and no way to install the new driver.

    The mobo is a dfi lanparty x48 t3rs ( ICH9R)
OS hd patriot torqx 64gb ssd with win 7 pro 64

and for storage i have an highpoint rocketraid controller( pci ex) with 4 x 500gb raid5

    any suggestion ?
Sorry for my bad english, I'm from italy

Intel® Rapid Storage Technology 9.6.0.1014 it can be installed if u are using the ICHxR raid configuration.... it has nothing to do with Inf files if u are looking for them.

9.6.5.x is dated later than 10.0.0.x, strange.

According to the Controller Properties > Driver tab 10.0.0.1043 is newer:

    9.6.5.1001 - 30th July 10
    10.0.0.1043 - 24th August 10

It would be nice to see a change log but I can't find one.

    @ giorgioprimo,
DFI boards don't work with SSD's. Also to switch between IDE, RAID, AHCI you need to edit the registry. It's no mystery that it's not working. It's not supposed to. Your system is bahaving normally. It's a miracle you have it working at all with that board.

    EDIT:
    Dug it up for you

Go into the registry using regedit and change each of the "start"
values in the registry keys below from 3 to 0 and this will allow
you to change between the different modes by just changing the option in your bios each time you reboot.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\servic es\pciide

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\servic es\msahci

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\servic es\iaStorV

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\servic es\iaStor

You might not have the last registry key (iastor) as this is installed
in the registry with the intel raid drivers, the default windows 7 raid driver uses the iastorV key.

Where did you see that DFI boards do not work with SSDs?

I'm running a DFI board and a Vertex 2 without issues and I'm exactly on par with everyone else on these boards for speeds.

I've used an Intel 80GB G2 with both a UT P45-T2RS(ich10r) and a LT X48-T2R(ich9r) with no issues whatsoever over the past 11 months. I don't think his DFI board is the issue here either.

win 7 64. No tweaks with all drivers installed.

    980x @ 4ghz, 12gb mem, Areca 1880ix-24 4xc300 64gb ssd r0. 2x5870 cfx

The boottime is not all about fast storage, it will be very fast with full tewaked ("Nlite") windows with few programs installed and not much hardware installed.
