So who made Full cover waterblocks for this board so far ? Ive seen EK and koolance
Is there difference in performance between the two ?

Don't think there's much to gain once your waterloop starts to heat up... also what's the difference between eg 32 and 35°C on the chipset here. Fun thing is that my CPU temps are almost not affected by adding the full EK block into my loop...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

    Welcome to overclocking!

All your 5 discoveries are pretty spot on.
And the 6th is absolutely my favorite.

About temps, I don't consider 90+ dangerous, but it's not recommended for 24/7.

    PCI-E is OK @ 100 for BCLK @ 200.
I wouldn't recommend running 24/7 with such high VTT (QPI/DRAM) 1.5+. General opinion is that it should be kept under 1.45.
Lowering CPU PLL could help you, but not necessarily. It usually doesn't help with Bloomfield. If I interpret correctly Intel's specs, lower limit for Bloomfields is 1.65 and for Guftowns there is practically none.

In your case I recommend running CPU @ 4.3GHz 205x21 (as you already do), but drop the memory to 1640, UnCore to 3690 and tighten the latencies, so you can lower VTT.

Can someone tell me the advantage of using less voltage in this case? Lack of voltage can also kill hardware and kind of weary of messing the hardware due to my lack of knowledge
    Hi!
With lowered CPU PLL I gain stability with less vCore. I hope it doesn't kill my CPU until I sell it to some less extreme OC'er.

don...lowered PPL to 1.55. If 1.25 is low and 1.8 is default...1.5 is a good inbetween number;-)

With this new rig, I finally get to join the 4Ghz club
    24hr prime stable:

My max temp would have been 84C instead of 87C but my ambient temp briefly went up. I'm sure my temps will be lower during gaming anyway.

Take that 3rd memory stick you pulled out and swap with 2nd one that is still on MB. That way you will be sure there is no problem with one of RAM sticks and that third channel on CPU's IMC is dammaged.

    Nice catch donmarkoni

    Should have thought of that

    Quick update..

4.5Ghz (215x21) now stable on my 930! It took many, MANY hours nutting out voltages but I've finally got it. Here is a quick rundown:

    CPU 4.523Ghz
    DDR 1725Mhz 6-8-6-20
    CPUv 1.437
    PLL 1.88
    QPI 1.45
    DRAM 1.64

Hope this helps out anyone else looking to hit 4.5 on air. As you'd expect, temps are high maxing out in the low 90s in IntelBurn. Superpi is 9.0, compared to 9.7s at 4.2Ghz/2000Mhz. Thanks again donmarkoni and others for your help!

That's about my looking at voltages in BIOS. Never noticed before 1005. I usually use DMM to check and compare with Everest.

heh so which bios is great to install in your opinion ? And second question low voltage for example 1.4V is bad for cpu ?

eh no voltage is like bad as long ure cooling is sufficient.

    vtt also.

    btw u sure u want to overclock a i7 920 +gtx470+9800gt with a power hungry digital VR r3e on a hx620 on aircooling??

Been trying for awhile now to get a stable OC with QPI LLC on, LinX usualy stopped very early or around 10 runs before getting error.
Also got some fail OC messages from cold boot on startup
Yesterday i moved the QPI LLC jumper to off and i get 20 stable on 2nd try...with tad less voltages compared to my most stable with QPI LLC jumper on
Been trying to figure why but no luck yet, guess maybe my setup just dont like QPI LLC thou CPU LLC is usualy on Full Calibration with no problems.
Think ill stick with QPI LLC off until i get my watercooling sorted and maybe try again then unless anyone got an idea

    @MariaH79

You can check and note your VTT (when it drops) while stressing with LinX, then set QPI LLC Enabled and set voltage in BIOS according to what you noted before.

If you guys noticed, the app for the iPhone was posted to the app store the other day. Unfortunately we found out that it needed an accompanying driver on the host PC to make it work, and ASUS hadn't released it yet...

    Well HERE IT IS!
    http://rapidshare.com/files/41896374...k_v1.00.16.zip

It seems to work great over Wifi, I haven't tried USB or Bluetooth yet. Bluetooth apparently requires you have tethering enabled on your iPhone.

The installer is bad and doesn't add start menu items, so you have to navigate to:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\ASUS Mobilink\
and launch the ASUS Mobilink.exe file manually.

I added it to my startup folder to avoid having to start it every time.

Also figured I'd share my BIOS template in case someone has a similar config, and is looking for help:
    Code:

    What OS you have?
Win7 x64 does not work at all.

Program does not do anything when launched, iphone cannot connect when configured to connect directly to computer assigned (static) IP via tcp/ip.

I'm running 24/7 @ 4ghz (182x22) but I was thinking today, how can the 930 use a 22x multi? 21 x 133 = 2.8ghz (stock speed), so how is it that I'm able to use a 22x multi when overclocking and with turbo mode disabled? My bios lets me select 22x just like 21x...

Also, my bios and cpu-z say 4ghz but right-clicking on "my computer" says 3.83 ghz. Since 3.83ghz = 182*21, is it just thinking I'm using a 21x multi?

Running benches such as cinebench and super pi definitely indicate 4ghz clocks and I tend to believe my bios and cpu-z over windows reporting...

So I just finished my build and everything booted up OK on first attempt... Updated motherboard BIOS to latest version (1005)... Things are going very well, except for one issue... please let me know if anyone has any ideas on this - thx.

Haven't installed any OS yet, although will be installing Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Have the RIIIE running w/4 hard drives attached to the ICH ports... 2 of those drives I would like to configure in RAID0 mode... also have 1 SATA 6Gb/s drive plugged into one of the Marvell SATA6Gb ports (just an FYI - not part of this issue)... then I have 2 more hard drives connected to a Promise FastTrak TX-2300 PCI RAID Controller card in a RAID1 config. I have the "Onboard SATA6G Controller" set to AHCI mode (just an FYI), as well as under the main "Storage Configuration" I have "Configure SATA as" RAID (rather than IDE or AHCI)... here's the issue... when configured in RAID mode, I can see the ICH RAID config during bootup, BUT I don't see the Promise TX2300 RAID BIOS at all... even in the Boot Menu in the BIOS, the "RAID: FT TX2300 Array" doesn't appear there... However, if I switch the SATA config to AHCI I can then see the FastTrak BIOS config menu during startup, as well as it appearing in the Boot Device list... of course then I can't access the Intel ICH controller RAID BIOS config (although I do see the drives attached to it)!!

The question is - how can I get BOTH the Promise PCI RAID Controller AND Intel ICH RAID Controller to be enabled and available in the BIOS at the same time?? I would like to create RAID arrays on each and currently this is not possible... Or can I just configure the Intel RAID0 array using Matrix Storage Manager once Windows is installed (is this possible and/or recommended)?

One other question - does the BIOS RAID & AHCI modes use the same driver in Windows 7? That is, can I move forward w/my Windows installation (which is not going on either RAID array, but on a single SSD) and not worry about driver/BSOD issues if I switch between AHCI and RAID modes in the BIOS later on? I realize there a registry hack to get around having the reinstall Windows, but just wanted to know if the driver was the same or not... thanks for any help!!

    Here is the hardware config:

    Motherboard: Asus Rampage III Extreme

    Well HERE IT IS!

You don't think your QPI/Dram voltage is too high? I always though 1.45 was the max. Is this a 24/7 OC?

And where is your multiplier in your template?

have you tried hitting CTRL+M during POST, as described by spoolindsm127:

Under 'Advanced' section go to Onboard Devices Configuration and set Onboard SATA6G Controller to AHCI (only have two options: IDE and AHCI, no RAID option). Save and reboot and during POST you will see the Marvell controller ROM initializing, hit CTRL+M and you'll be in the Marvell Option ROM where you can configure you're RAID array. Hope that helps

    On my rampage 2 extreme i had it on 1.60 24/7 to run my GT's @ 2000 7-8-7-20
    never had problems >_<
