Serial number is in the invoice sent to me

    Angry ESata and Hot plugging

Surprised to see that my UD7, Windows 7 64 bit Pro:
Plugged in a running, externally powered SATA drive into the rear ESata/USB 3 ports. Nothing happens until I reboot!

Once Windows sees the drive, if I unplug Windows doesn't notice.
    Arn't Esata ports hot-pluggable?
Under XP with a PCI Sata/Esata card all of this worked fine!!!!

    anyone know better?

I used the on board esata port once,
once the driver was loaded and used my Ethernet ports were unusable.
don't know why, never tried it again, my external drive also supports USB2 so i use that instead.

Make sure the eSATA ports are set to AHCI mode in the BIOS, and that the correct drivers are installed. With the default drivers that Windows 7 installed, hot swap didn't work for me. Once I installed the ones from Gigabyte's site (and enabled AHCI) it worked fine.

Also, the combo USB/eSATA ports are USB 2.0. The 3.0 USB ports are the blue ones.

Hey guys, not sure if this is a Gigabyte issue, but I thought I'd ask here anyway.

I've got a 5870 and I'm trying to install an Nvidia GTX 260+ card to try out the hybrid PhysX mod.

I have the 5870 in the primary PCI-express x 16 slot and the Nvidia card in the bottom slot (x8 slot).

    I've followed this guide :

"Assuming you already have ATI card and drivers installed:

1/ Stick in your Nvidia card.

2/ Download Forceware 258.96 and install it.

    3/ Restart.

    4/ Install hybrid 1.04ff."

When trying to install the Nvidia 258.96 drivers it keeps saying compatible hardware not found.

I thought maybe the card was not seated properly so I tried re-seating it and the fan on the card seems to be spinning so it shouldn't be that.

I don't think it's a Gigabyte issue, but I thought I'd post and ask here in case there is a setting in the BIOS I need to change on the UD7 to get the Nvidia card working? It doesn't seem like it's detected. I would have thought that it would show up in GPU-Z even with out drivers installed, but it doesn't. Only the ATI card is listed.

    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

Does another video card work when you don't have anything in the second x16 slot on this Motherboard?

Yep, that is what i would do too, try all different slots, perhaps one has to be recognized before the other.
i run two old evga GF7800 cards in non-SLI mode to run three monitors - no problem (mobo - ggbt x58 extreme - very similar to UD7).
hopefully this is not another one of those GF vs ATI not playing well together again

How many cards do you have in that system all up? Just the two 7800s? or 3 cards?

Question for the UD7 bios experts out there, can UD7 rev2 bios be used on rev1 boards - see -

    http://hwbot.org/article/newsflash/8...h_guide_notes_

    BIOS Download link: http://rapidshare.com/files/419207367/GOOC2010.W08

I would like to try this bios on my rev1, any chance it would work?

No I have just the two GF7800s.
Did you try moving the cards around to different slots?
W7 is supposed to be more tolerant of using multiple video cards.

I reuploaded the bios here: http://www.4shared.com/file/Tvyuru1-/GOOC2010.html

Here is the summary of changes and features provided with this competition bios:

    1. Bios is based on X58A-UD9 bios from 20/8/2010 and X58A-UD7 FB6 bios with a few additions
    2. GOOC Lean Mode: disables various options on the fly including smart fan, power states and turbo, LOGO screen, enables USB keyboard/mouse and disables various third party IC functions which are not necessary for extreme OC
    3. VCORE RANGE: from 1.0V up to 2.1Vcore (I wonder if there will actually be CPUs that scale with volts up to 2.1 lol)
    4. GOOC EXTREME CLOCK: This option removes OCP when enabled
    5. GOOC EXTREME TEMP: This options may improve cold bugs when enabled depending on CPU.

sadly you can't use the rev2 bios with the rev1 motherboard.
Can we have a modified bios for rev1 motherboard?

Not yet. I have the 5870 in the first x16 slot, nothing in the second x16 slot and the Nvidia card in the bottom x8 slot.

The thing is I want to get a couple more ATI cards later on and Crossfire so I need the Nvidia card to work in the slot that it is currently in. That's why I didn't want to move it because eventually I want to use it in this slot. I will try it in the other slot though tomorrow when I have time to see if it works.

So it wouldn't be a BIOS setting or anything that needs to be changed? Even if I don't have drivers installed for the card should it still show up in GPU-Z or not? It seems to be running, but not showing up in GPU-Z, MSI Afterburner or any of those programs.

    First test:

I've done the thinning of voltage to the processor, the remainder going to do yet.

I'm having a problem here with the program Easy Tune. The program is not saving the changes I make. Anyone know why?
