Did you try to update the BIOS before the error? Friend had an error similar to that after a corrupted BIOS flash.

I was overclocking until crash on desktop and after that no successfull boot.

it should try & recover bios from the dvd if you insert that. Otherwise as ^^^

I was wondering if I could take the stock 1090T heatsink and place it on my AMD 720 BE processor I have in a HTPC I built? Then worry about finding a good heatsink to overclock my 1090T?

PS: I have a TRUE and a Apogee XT in my possesion but both need mounting brackets.

Also anyone know if there is iPhone support for the Crosshair IV Formula?

you should have no trouble doing so.

you would also be surprised how much better the 1090t cooler is than the 720

AM3/AM2+/AM2 and even socket 939 can use the same heatsinks.

though 939 has only two screws instead of 4, if you don't use the heatsink bracket.

I was very impressed in the stock heatsink that came with the 1090T. I've never bought a cpu with anything more than copper and aluminum spiral basic block style heatsink. So I'm wondering how much more efficient the 1090T sink is vs the basic one that came with my 720BE. So I'm thinking maybe replacing the fan on the stock heatsink could produce gains rather than actually going another route.

Here are my choices:

I have already a Thermalright 6 pipe horizontal cooler that blows air back onto the motherboard on an old 939 board thats on its last leg. I use it to surf the web and do my taxes. I also have a TRUE in operation on an E8600 that I'm not ready to pull apart yet. Mostly play Fallout 3 on that one. Then I have an Apogee XT (new) with no pump and no radiator. Swiftec didn't even package that block with an AM3 mounting bracket. Talk about discrimination!

For the Swiftech XT, think it's more your fault as you didn't check the specifications.

Dude I've had the XT for a while before I went AMD and was planning on using it on an 1366 socket. Not a big deal though cause they sell AM3 adapters for it. Cost like $10. Thing is even my TRUE came with AMD mounting brackets. Guess thats how manufactures keep their prices down...

New to OCing here. Would like to get max clock using 1.5V for 24/7 use. Because of volt swings this VCore setting is 1.4625 for me. In search of a stable 4ghz clock right now. Is there anything I should be looking for in terms of temps to watch out for? What's the deal with keeping the HT link less then the NB frequency? I'm aircooling and the room my computer is in has a temp range of 76-82F. This is what I have so far. Im using the 1102 bios btw

if 40*C is your idle temp, I'd look at better cooling. 4ghz may be harder to reach with those temps, since your load temps will likely become a hold back. But not to bad of a clock so far

My idle temp is about 35C, my load temps range from 59-61C. I pegged the VCore were it is cause thats as high as I want to go, my current clock is stable with less.

still kinda high for the load, not for a stock chip but OC'd it can cripple stability. What kind of RAM you using?

I would find a good stable with the ram at desired HT reference, ie HT-Ref 300. x 10 (you'll need this HT Ref to get 4ghz using 13.5 multi - it also gets you 1600mem). You'll have to lower the ram devider to get the 1600mhz for your ram. also lower the NB multi to 6.5 or 7 to get near 2000mhz effective speed. If the system is stable at these setting using the 300 HT Ref, then I would bring the multi up in steps until you reach 4ghz. Of course bring Voltage up as well. I was able to hit 4ghz benchable on the stock Heatsink and Fan this weekend. But I also have an Antec skeloton case that has a 250mm Cooling the entire board, I am sure this helped keep temps down.
