Conroe was impressive when compared against P4 desktops, but Conroe lineage was actually from Banias/Dothan/Yohna -- and in those cases, the improvement was healthy but not nearly as impressive, about 20% gains over those cores.

It always confused me why Intel did not work harder to percolate Dothan to the desktop, it was clock for clock an equivalent to K8 and at equal or lower power.
