its how they handle costs i guess, if sales drop 50% after the first week, its better to buy less and use them longer than make everyone happy and have half your stock sitting around.

i posted somewhere else that if comcast did unlimited on-demand for like 20$ a month or something, it would really pick up speed. and i would require them to up the quality too. no way am i paying 5$ to watch a movie once within 24 hours at quality less than DVD. strait rentals at blockbuster were only 4$ and no late fees, so comcast is fail with the pay more and get less attitude. its a shame they have everything they need to do it right, but dont.

No, it is what they are forced to do by license agreements with the studios. Once they can release a movie into the wild there is rarely a problem with supply. Netflix is ideal for a HTPC for the streaming, tons of content on there now.
