after flashing the bios many times finally seems that now the turbo work also with the cpu under cold.
with QPI-link in full mode i can boot at 222 MHZ of BCLK quite stable but at 224 the mouse pointer and all the windows move slow.
when i switch to slow mode and i can reach 245 quite stable.
after a super-pi 32M with 18x multiplier i setted 21x, Vcore 1.55 (this cpu can do 245 x 21 32M stable with 1.55 vcore) and save & exit.
the mobo did 2 or 3 fake boot then did the post but when seems that windows booted correctly the mobo power down.
now all the fans work but the post error code display is dead and i can't se anything on the monitor.
lol @ EVGA
i'm waiting that the CPU warm up, then i will test all at air with the hope that this crappy (probably faulty board) is finally dead.
with less IOH core and QPI PLL voltage i can't boot or i'm unstable.PHP Code:

yes, i have exactly the same feeling...
that's a pita, i paid 380 euro for a board that work worst than every other board on the market.
i bet that even the asrock can do more than 222 MHZ of BCLK with qpi in full mode.
i don't know what to do now, i'm not sure that this board can pass an rma, at default seems that all work good....
it's unbelievable that EVGA don't cherrypick the X58 chip, i expected a lot more from this mobo...........

i had a 3x sli and lol it was trouble after 215 i dumped it after 1 day
i need to make the time to play
i have a nice pot commin soon
i bought a rexIII can go over 215 lol they dont handpick x58 neither
i doubt yours will survive long especially with high ICH volts

yes, sli/crossfire sometimes cut the QPI-link overclocking ability, i know, but i'm running with a single geffo 6200 LE and i don't plan to go for crossfire or sli.
it's also unbelievable that the manufacturers (asus, evga, etc etc) don't cherrypick the x58 for the flagship board...we paid a lot of money for them, they write everywhere "best oc motherboard ever and BS like this" and then sell mobo with a lot of problem and sometimes bad design.
i've a 150 euro ud3r that can go higher than this evga
My very first Asus P6T-SE could hit just shy of 235 if memory serves and every board since, a Rampage2, a P6X58D Premium and an EVGA Classified, can't come close. Even the same ram/CPU combo wouldn't match the little P6T.
Last time I go for such a glorified board.![]()
Mine max BCLK is 220mhz.
221mhz is bootable but not stable.

ah, ok, then it's not only my board that sucks really bad
which nb revision is your mobo? mine is 13
the DFI that can do 235 is 12.
would be interesting to freeze the nb, maybe it scale with cold and i can reach what my dfi did at aria with IOH @ 1.3 volt![]()
My E762 can do 245bclk no problem with CPU on SS without cooling the NB(only one 120mm fan). And yeah thats with QPI on full mode its not working good with slow mode and never used it. Max bclk was arround 248 for SPi 1M, the video card wasnt able to go over 117PCie so I cant push for more. My previous board E760 was also able to do 240bclk with water at -5 ambient in the winter. So classifieds are ok, but may be there are bad ones of them. I`ve heard about the board here in Bulgaria which was dead and after a year it is alive again but now it cant go over 210bclk. May be some NB problems if u pushed too much?
Hi,
I just bought the x58 classified 3x. But encounter some problems here.
Everything is fine with the setup able to boot. But when the system tried to restart it just turn bad, It will shut down for a while and restart but before it could post, it will shutdown again and keep going and going until I turn off the main power. When I turn on the main power and start again it will boot as per normal. But when I shut down and power up again the same thing happen. Only when I turn the main power off and on again, it will boot normally.
I am using PC&Power cooling 750watt.. Intially when I do a test setup my ATI5870 was inserted to 5th slot of PCIe (16X) everytiung is OK. But when I put back everything into the case and move it to the slot 2 PCIe (16X) the problems start.
A while ago due to Norhbridge temp are too high for my comfort due to the heat decipate from the backpane of the ATI 5870, I move the gfx card back to the 5th PCIe slot (16X). To my surprised it work perfectly again.
I also tested slot 3 PCIe (8X), same issue with slot 2.
No OC, BIOS upgraded and in default setting except enabled the AHCI. Thank you.

Hey Guys, been busy as heck with work and family issues. To take my mind off the current "glum" situation going to fire up my 759, do a little benching and then make it the home rig on water. Which bios would you guys suggest for the 759 and a Xeon 3565??
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.![]()

now seems that all my problem with CPU multiplier and VCORE/VTT issue are going away.

mafio you really need 1.4 for IOH?
i was wondering why i wasnt getting nowhere with my vtt frequency lol
gonna try 370 where i redo my loop
is bios 44 the one you like best?

regarding IOH voltage to be honest I don't if I need 1.4 volt, only I don't wanna risk to be unstable for low IOH voltage.
BTW, 1.4 isn't that much, X58 is 65nm chip, with 1.4 volt it can work without issue for years for sure, and I don't plan to use this board more than 6 month.
with a fan blowing on NB heatsink the temperature always stay below 55° C, then no problem.
VTT PWM frequency at 370 KHz in my case seems to be the best setting, 240 Khz is too low, 490 and 640 KHz is too high if you plan to use high VTT.
with 490 or 640 KHz if I set VTT > +300 I can't boot or I have BSOD during OS loading.
yes, bios 44 seems to be the best for stability and BCLK clocking, but I've used the others just for some minutes then maybe I've lost something during this quick bios roundup.
also bios 74 seems to be really good, I need to try it coz maybe it's faster than 44.
today finally I found that MCH strap act on the memory subtimings, tighter MCH strap will result in tight subtimings...so far not that usefull, especially when you are at high BCLK.
I leaved it always on auto and setted manually the subtimings.
another thing that I must try is "performance turbo", did you know what is it and if it make any difference for stability and performance in 2d bench?
Last edited by Mafio; 08-31-2010 at 08:17 AM.
gimme another 1 or 2 days and I'll test deeply 74 bios.
right now I'm testing my kingston 2000 MGH-E-Hyper with bios 44 because I need them for some LN2 fun this WE and I've some issue to solve.
if I don't bump the DIMM reference voltage to around +60 Mv the system always reboot at the first or second loop of the 32M even at 2000 MHz CAS 7.
till now I've tested also kingston 2133 cas9 Elpida BDBG and they work like a charm without need to play with reference voltage and so on...then seems that only MGH-E-Hyper need this kind of fine tuning.
I also plan to test my old good A-Data 2133X MNH-E-Hyper (yes, they still alive).
another thing that I discovered yesterday is that if I set VTT PWM switching frequency at 490 or 640 KHz I can't give more than +300 MV of VTT voltage or the mobo won't boot or BSOD during OS loading.
if I set VTT PWM switching frequency at 220 or 370 KHz no problem with VTT up to +400 MV.
the problem is that I need more than +300 MV with switching frequency >= 470 Khz if I wanna use memory and uncore at high frequency but +300 MV is only 1.488 volt real...and that's not enough for 4900 MHz uncore using SS.
for doing 4900 MHz 32M stable I need near 1.600 volt.
sorry for this long and boring post but these days I like to write![]()
Those are some good tips Mafio, I may have to pull my 762 back out. Never had to mess with the reference voltage with Dominator GT but maybe that's the problem with my other sticks...

do you have the same reboot/freeze issue with your dominator?
Nah, with the Dominators I don't get the freeze/reboot. If the voltages aren't set right either the benching app crashes or Windows will BSOD which is the expected behavior. With my STT and Patriot sticks though, I get the freezes or reboots.

Mafio; How are those Kingston 2000c8 treating you with your classy? Just ordered a kit of those, and I'm waiting for the arrive.
Can you get a 2000c7 24/7 with less than 1.4v VTT?, hoy about max c8 mhz...? Regards Federico.
onestly i don't know, my 24/7 rig is a xeon e3110 + ep45 extreme + 2x1 gb cellshock pc8000.
all my 1366 stuff is only for benchmarking and extreme overclocking, i never did any stability test with those kingston.
BTW 2000 cas 7 wit 1.65 volt should be quite easy.
i've also tested 74 bios, with 980x it's the best, with 920/950 it sucks.
