Well this is not true. Still to date the Radeon HD5970 gives faster overall performance

and has a higher memory badwidith than GTX 480 (177.GB/s for GTX 480, 256GB/s for 5970)
If you count the mem bandwidth in the same way for the GTX 480 in SLI it would be 2x 177 = 354 GB/s. I think that's probably what they referred to. The GTX 480 in SLI also makes more noise, is hotter, and uses more power. So, I don't think the HD5970 beats them overall
