Have any of you experienced any strange issues with your Gigabyte P45 boards?
When doing video screen captures using video capturing tools such as CamStudio or Camtasia or Hypercam, the dwm.exe process usage can jump around between 50MB to 1GB of memory usage. Occasionally this error causes the Aero interface to auto disable itself, because it's using so much memory. I use the XVID codec.
I've tested this on an EP45-UD3P rev 1.6 and an EP45-UD3L in two completely different computers in different locations. Both of these imitate the exact same behavior. Both computers utilize ATI video cards (an HD4850 and an HD5450), so it could just be a video driver issue, but I've tested 3 different versions of drivers. The laptop that I have does not suffer from this issue and it uses an nVIDIA card (1680x1050 resolution). I'm trying to determine if this is an issue with this board or just ATI's drivers. I'm still trying to get an nvidia card so I can test with it in this board. Testing this board on two completely different builds has got me to wondering if there might be something wrong with these boards that causes this to occur. However, it could just be ATI's crappy video drivers.
I've tested 1024x768 up to 1920x1200 on one computer with full screen recording. On the other, I tested with a 1280x1024 resolution with full screen recording. Both cause the memory to jump around sporadically. I did notice that if you VERTICALLY move (strangely, no affect when moving horizontally) the mouse over certain objects that the memory usage will not vary as much (never goes over 100MB, but still jumps around).
Does anyone else notice the same behavior? What video cards are you running?
EDIT: I've tested this on Vista, and the issue goes away. It appears to be crappy drivers for Windows 7. Though, I've seen other people that use ATI cards that don't have the same issue on Windows 7, so I'm not sure.

Guys I have a very important question.
I've been proposed to change my Asus Rampage Formula and Intel Q9450 for used Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P rev. 1.1 and new Q6600. My actual system clocks only 450MHz which is CPU 3.6GHz and DDR2-1200MHz. I'm unable to OC any higher. So I've been thinking lately if I switch to "new" hardware, will I gain any performance in games (I use my system for games mostly)? My other hardware are MSI R5870 Lightning (rendering), EVGA 8800GTS G92 (PhysX), GSKill F2-9600CL5D-4GBPI. I'll appreciate any suggestions of yours.

Thank you Andressergio very much for this useful information. Unfortunately I'm unable to get other revision for reasonable price.
Could you tell me what is your opinion on how worthwhile is this kind of upgrade, with respect to higher ingame performance? Or should I just wait and collect more money for something like X58 I7 DDR3? I'm asking because I've found that for example in Dirt2 I get 56-61fps when in some reviews of R5870 Lightning with newer systems people get 80fps using the same game settings. That is why I started to thinking what is wrong with my system:/
well if you wann stay on P45 you can just grab the EP45T USB3P same as i have its a great board, and runs awesome on 1600 6-6-6-18 PL7 with elpida hypers like the stalents 2200 CL8
other way you can just pick a X58A UD3R or the new rev 2 of this mobo + I7
i will be doing this move thanks for the great help of my friends here at the forum![]()

It's not that I want to stay with P45 but right now I don't have that amount of money to switch to X58. But I see it'd be more perspective to wait and buy X58 board. Thanks Andressergio.

The_real_7 so you too think this version 1.1 isn't worth it? Because I wrote earlier I consider changing from Asus Rampage Formula + Q9450 to GA-EP45-UD3P ver. 1.1 (found good offer in my country) + Q6600. Right now I get 3.20GHz (earlier it was 3.60 but now I can't rich there any more) and I think this is bootleneck for R5870.

yeah G but R not P im telling to stay away form P45 UD3P 1.1
my tests with ma friends where that the PIS would ONLY run on 2,05A divider wich is HELL for MCH so you pumped all and corrupt OS many times...and 2,40B was total unstable...but on my UD3P 1.0 all worked fine and 2,05 same crap. I have lots of friends with this problem and 3 on this forum.
cheers !
