I think many are just being biased and don't give credit for just want a certian manufactures machine will do.

When you consider that not everyone has $5,000 to spend on a rig and they might only be able to afford a best bang for your buck system, and certianlly not everyone cares if they can afford a machine that gives them 200FPS in those games.

I don't play MW2 or BFBC2, so I guess I am not considered a gamer then I guess, yet I play a lot of different types of games and enjoy them all.

ATI & AMD play games just fine, maybe not to your standard, but works just fine for others.

Myself I don't really care what CPU/GPU I use, I have AMD and Intel right here running right now and I like them both just as well.
