Corsair H70 picture - Released tomorrow? (updated)

First off the H70 is performing well with the stock fans maxed out. I think most of the H50 owners realized the stock fan is, well, bad and probably replaced it or even added a second.

So they are going to go the budget route, spend $70 on a H50 and then spend another $20 - $25 on a pair good fans? That seems counter intuitive when you consider the price of a H70 is around $100.

i spent alot of time reading over the review at LAB501 and i clicked into the review comparing all the twin tower coolers. alot of good stuff, but some was a little laughable at times.

the NH-D14 is just F*ing massive, lol. until i see it in person, i guess it just wont really sink in. the surface area has to be 2-3x that of the radiator on the H70, and the price is not bad either when you think about the quality of fans you get with it too. (but honestly i would have like to see one fan be much faster with a high/med/low switch or resistor, no point getting the best heatsink around and be forced to run it silent)

i also would like to see a little more compatibility testing done, see how many motherboards or cases might run into a problem when trying to use either. the H70 is built for incase use only. it can run on an open bench, but honestly i think thats stupid and dangerous. (if it falls and takes the motherboard with it, dont need a gpu getting pulled out of its socket and fry everything). as things keep getting bigger, we quickly can run into issues with clearance. there was one test on here that already had issues with mounting the NH-D14 in a certain direction. people with a full tower might aswell go with full WC (unless they have 15 HDDs or optical drives), so mid towers is where its at for heatsinks.

and i got some other fans still in stock .

I don't know when i will receive my order though , but when i get it I will mount it on the back side to blow air inside my case (2 fans) . the top fan and PSU will be the only exhausts at that point .

curious how much my temps will improve compared to the hammer (which is doing a very good job tbh , but cant be mounted to blow air to the back of the case + its too BIG for my liking . I have a small case) .
and when improving i mean both motherboard/case temps as well as cpu temps .
I'm also replacing my psu with an antec truepower 850w at the same time , since my 560w just doesn't cut it anymore with the AMD overclocked to 4.2ghz .

Same stuff: equals a high end heatsink running on quiet fans while the H70 is at full rpm. You can call me anything you like but that in my book is a fail. What do you think it will happen if you pair some loud fans with the heatsinks?

your lack of definition for "that" is making it really tough to know what your expectations are for a cooler that provides incredible numbers for its size.

ive said this quite a few times. the features for each cooler are not the same. you do not get an Hx0 for open benching. and you will probably have bad luck fitting some of these massive twin tower coolers into some cases. or if you want to exhaust all the cpu heat away from other components you can, or if you know your gpus will be giving your cpu bad air you can run it on intake.

i have never said the H70 should or would beat top end HS/F, but it does provide benefits for many different situations that a regular HS/F may handle poorly or not be compatible with.

please list your expectations so we can respond to them clearly.

The H50 competes with watercooling. The H70 should be dominating it. Otherwise, it would be so much easier for Corsair to make an Air Heatsink, and I bet it would sell more.

Naww, if the H50 doesn't really compete with watercooling, as there aren't many units that fits within the H50's category on the market.

By what I mean to be watercooling, I mean the ones that are shown in the WC section on XS, the custom built ones. If to say that the H50 as a WC setup, it simply sucks.

Corsair did make aircooling heatsinks, but I don't think they sold well.

Ambient temp 21 Celcius.

Max core temp after 1 hour in Coretemp 99.7 x64:

H50: 59 Celcius

H70: 52 Celcius

But the H70 kit fans can do 2000rpm , so they are different fans .
Anyone knows ?

It says on the box the fans are 50 / 61 CFM @ 1600 / 2000rpm; static pressure is 1.8-2.3mm and 26-31.5 dBA per fan...

I don't see whats useful at that vcore and those temps. For that amount of noise they better perform. Anyways waiting for someone who will really push the limits on an Bloomfield. Gultowns are known to run cooler at similar voltage. And use at least Prime for crying out.

Biker, if you've got the time and a install of windows you don't mind BSD'ing will you find out if your D0 has a new limit when under the H70? If you can't that's fine, your apples to apples has been great so far.

Also, are there fans with the same CFM but quiter?

check the watercooling section, they have some really good tests for best fans for a radiator at different speeds and noise. high CFM does not mean high pressure, and it might have worse real airflow.
