    Both CPU's perform identically on my 790i and require the same voltage to reach the same clockspeed.

    The newer stepping is no guarantee that you'll get higher clocks at lower voltage.

    I have an E8700 E0 stepping that will do 4.2GHz on 1.29v, whereas it takes around +1.50v on both quads.

    How cheap is the QX9650?
