Any major difference between X58A-UD3R v1 and 2? I know with the EP45-UD3P only the 1.0 and 1.1 versions were good.

I had a ud3p 1.6 and was up there with the rest of them, I would have gone further with ln2 just like the rest of them, so that's a myth.

The major difference with the v1 and v2 boards are the phases, but not sure about 1.0 and 1.1.

For those that have a rev 2 of the ud3r, what bios are you finding best?

That chip seems to be running lovely for you Radaja, temps are very nice too. I'm 100MHz off 4.5 for my 920 D0 and still looking for more but am probably at my heat/clock limit. Which bios did you use?

Iv been having some issues with my computer but I dont know if its the board or what it is. I got a Xonar DX sound card and sometimes the sound gets all laggy for like 3 minutes and then its fine. Sometimes it comes back but usally not if I dont restart the computer. Also, the SLI option in the Nvidia controllpanel dosent show (even tho I have two 260s)! I had it working and it was great but then the drivers just "dissapeard" and I had to reinstall them. I guess Im going to try to uninstall and reinstall tonight...Weird!

I know that newer bios revisions for the rev1 board fixed 'audio stuttering' in some peoples cases - I never experienced it, but may help if this applies to you - try F6m from the gigabyte site if you run a rev 1.

Has anyone else used all the x16 slots on their X58A-UD3R? For some reason 3 of the slots are running @ 4x instead of x8. I was under the impression that when all slots are used the all have x8 bandwidth however for some reason slot 3 is only running @ x4.

hi i noticed thres not even single Gigabyte X58A-UD3R :s at 4.5ghz linx stable thread ud7 and ud5 there is plenty .and not even here with results over 4ghz with 20+passes with all memory on. my highest linx stable is 21x180 .so this is not any good board i think

fully stable. 4.5 is quite a push for most chips (stable anyway). I can bench up to about 4.78GHz but bclk is probably the limiting factor. 230+ is do-able, and I know more is on dice.

    p.s. F6 bios is out - improved CPU & PCI-E x8/x16 compatibility and memory.

Trying it now, no better at o/c for me but not really any decline either.

I did flash to F6 and I got blue screen many time, the error was related to memory management and it did trash my Windows (W7 x64) that I had to reinstall it, and during the installation Windows installer did throw another error.
I flashed back to F6M and all is good again, I don't think that F6 is managing the memory well that it might end up corrupting the registry.

Please report back if you face the same or a similar problem.

Rev 2.0 problem here: My Westmere-EP A0 stepping chips Can't OC at all with either FA or FB bios! Just +1mhz in bclk and it won't post, FA bios is totally broken and the bios hangs in the MIT screens with FA. This is a slight problem because I just bought 8 of them not even thinking about revisions (my Rev 1.0 boards work great!!)

Anyone else have these problems or have a solution?

Q3NC; I also installed a 980x B1 retail into a UD3R Rev 2.0 with FA bios. Went into the M.I.T. menu and the bios locked the same as the Q3NC's did with FA bios. It was late so I haven't had a chance to update that Bios to FB and try to see If I could change the Bclk with better results than the Q3NC L5640's. (project for tomorrow; i'll update if I get better results with the FB Bios.)

*edit: and i'm running F5 Bios on my Rev 1.0's which work great with the Q3NC's*

    Thanks for the help!
