Quick question, does the REX3 support Raid (0,1) on the 2 red SATA 6G ports?

Officially on the website, it says that the marvell controller doesnt support raid, also some reviews state it doesnt support it. But ive read that asus has since released a bios so that it now supports raid 0, 1? can someone who has actually tried using raid with the 2 red ports confirm that it does indeed support raid?

I have 2x ssds that i want to raid 0, and 3x hdds that i want to raid 5.

You can create raid arrays on Marvell controller , but you should know that this controller is slow compared to the Intel one .

Thanks. is it much slower or will i barely notice it?

i plan to run my 2 ssds in raid 0 on the marvell and 3 hdds in raid 5 on the ich10r. would this be a good idea or should i just put the ssds on the intel for my os?

The Marvell is good for a single 6Gbps SATA SSD. Otherwise I would not use it.

BIOS 901 - can not save the settings in the BIOS. after a reboot everything returns to default values. Has anyone noticed this?

bios 0009 - now I can set TIMING MODE = 1N, seems that everything works properly.

IMO, it's too much even for C0 revision of CPU (i7 965, right?).
    I had i7 920 C0 and it needed 1.34V max for 3600MHz UnCore and 1.44V for 4000MHz UnCore.
By Intel's specs max safe VTT is 1.35V, but by OC'ers' specs it's the voltage you feel comfortable with.
BTW, if you seek for the opinion, I wouldn't use more then 1.45V for 24/7.

Im running 2 C 300s on the marvell

I dont think 250 writes and 450 reads is pure crap at all, unless youre going for top bench scores this is top notch for gaming and they get better as the new marvell drivers come out !

You will get higher an ICH10R. 2 C300s should be pulling over 600MB reads on a good 6Gbps controller.

Thats not to far off from what one C300 can do. On a good 6 Gbps controller you should be getting at least 600 or more. Your scores are the same as 2 of my old Vertex's on ICH10R, lol. More than good enough for what your using it for though.

Recently got hold of a 950 to play with. Revised my cooling to cater for the high leakage chip. Will play tonight and see how this BF fares on the R3E

    ok I stand corrected !
I guess I might as well use the ICH10R after all then.

My gosh, Marvell need to improve their drivers . I guess i will be putting my 2 ssds in raid 0 on the ich10r. And then have 2 hdds in raid 1 for storage and have 1 hdd as a spare hot swappable drive. shame, i got 3x 2tb hdds that i wanted to put in raid 5 but the marvell is just too poor.

Have you done any testing with 2 C300's on the Marvell non RAID? I am thinking of getting another 256G for non RAID and want to know if there is a loss in perf putting two drives on the controller.

I just want it for super fast transcoding from drive to drive. If there is a loss I will just get a Sandforce based drive for ICH10R and use it for booting and source location of the file to be crushed.

Yup, thats about what I am getting

I wonder if the Marvell has enough jam to run that speed across two drives in non-RAID?

I really dont want to run a PCI-E controller in my MurderMod build so if it cant I will have to grab a Sandforce drive and run ICH10R.

Anyone have two drives they can test on Marvell non-RAID?

    Hi

I've just got this board up and running last night and I've noticed that the North Bridge temps are about 50C at idle and go over 60C at load which seems high.
    Is this normal??

Ok so I swapped to the ICH10R,
due to the system config change my back ups are usless so I gotta do the reinstall dance :-(
the drives do seem happier / quicker on the intel.

    weird issue @ ln2

I have a strange problem with this board under LN2:

after boot at over 1,75 vcore when i run the 3dm06(cpu test) the vcore drops to 1,55-1,65v permanently causing freezees.
(i use a multimeter for check voltages)
After freezee i go into bios and shows 1,55-1,65v on cpu voltages....noway to pull it up, i have to clear cmos all and restart it
    i use bios 0901 now...

    what can be ?

    i use those settings :
