How hot does the chipset get? Is the passive cooler enough or should I strap a fan to it?

I'm getting ready to order the remaining bits and pieces I need, and thought about ordering a fan for the chipset if it needs it.

it's gets hot and needs at least some minor airflow

ok well i still can't get the board to post. i tried removing the battery for 2 days, using one stick of ram in all the ram slots, the pci-e video card, a pci ati rage xl video card, swap the cpu, reseat the cpu, swap psu. is it even possible to post with only one cpu when it's meant to be used in multiple-processor systems?

i'm using cpu0 socket and tried one stick of ram situated on all of the cpu0dimm slots.

if you are positive that your ram is ok then it sounds like your board went bad from shipping. pm me and lets see if we can get it taken care of by the seller.

Do you have the memory in CPU0_DIMM0, CPU0_DIMM1, CPU0_DIMM2 and CPU0_DIMM3 or CPU0_DIMM0, CPU1_DIMM0, CPU2_DIMM0 and CPU3_DIMM0?

From what I've read, you need memory in DIMM0 for each CPU.

I tested every single board with one cpu in cpu0 and four sticks of ram in dimm0 1~4.
