randomly with 0901, i can't seem to set uncore to the proper speed with the memory... oddly enough, every time i try it just wont boot period even on other uncore speeds. only time it'll boot is when uncore is set to AUTO and when it does boot it comes up with a speed that doesn't match (EI 1866mhz mem should have 3733 uncore or slightly higher but comes up at 2800-3000 with AUTO. i've tried on mem speeds between 1800 and 1900 with proper uncore speeds and nothing. i DO notice that this really only happens when BLCK is at stock 133 setting... otherwise it'll... sorta boot on other settings.)

EDIT: what i mean by not booting is that it hangs on CPU check during bios start.
I've read that 980 only need 3:2 ratio uncore to RAM. Here's very nice thread over i4memory

I think today REXIII is the only board at that price (345 euro here in Greece) that can have if you handle 2 vga and want to have them at low temps.

The problem with IOH solved for me when reapply thermal paste and put the optional with fan
    My room temp is 25c

Very nice temps. I also reapplied the thermal paste, Shin-Etsu G751. On cold boot it is at 38c, then slowly climbs till after 20 mins it hovers around ICH/IOH - 50/52c with MB at 32c. Room temps ~26-27c. You run your board in a case? If so which one? Oh also I am NOT using the optional Northbridge Thermal Module.

8.007 Ghz on my Rampage 3 Extreme with Core i7 920 DO...

    LoL

This is what happened today while benching... Screen froze and then it jumped to this and stayed on the screen so I grabbed my G1 and took a picture.

So far the highest boot settings is 216 BCLK on my i7 920 DO. With the ROG connect I can get it to 222 then freezes at 223 no matter how much voltage I give it or settings I change. I think im done for awhile until I get a Gulftown or the next bios comes out. I'm going to order a new bench table ( probably a Danger Den Torture rack ) and LN2\Dice pot and try dice for the first time here soon.

    Wish me luck ... LoL

when i oc above 217-218 bclk in windows using the software the same thing happens, it gets real buggy and then eventually locks up, cpuz goes nutz and shows 7-8ghz with 300+bclk.

thanks that actually helped quite a bit. i've gotten alot more successful passes through LinX with the info in those sub links.

so far my favored settings is 4.333ghz / 1896mhz memory. doubt i'll hit 4.5ghz until i can upgrade the water cooling system a bit more, right now it's CPU, mobo and dual GPU all in one loop on a single double deck 120mm x4 radiator with silent fans but it helped alot thanks.

All is well while benching when the IOH is at -5c
How are you cooling the VRM's if you have a pot on the NB as the chipset cooler is one large piece?

Me too. It's really annoying when I'm sitting at 254 BCLK trying to hit 255 and all of the sudden it hardlocks because of a software issue...

I actually was'nt cooling the VRM'S at all.. But I ran a bunch of tests for an hour or so and they never really caused a problem. I did have a couple fans on different areas of the board though.

    really slow?

i've been trying to get my 980x to run LinX stable at 4.5ghz on water... though i think most getting it stable at that point are doing it with HTT disabled, i'm doing it with Enabled and MAN this runs stupid hot...

TJ max being in single digit zones is kinda scary . i think i'll get this validated and then roll back to 4.3 with HTT enabled...

i think i might look into chilled cooling next

    need an answer.

Hi people. I am not an expert as most of you are. I am just now trying to put together this system.
And I need some technical info if anyone here knows.

Well, my two Radeon HD5970 video cards had a hard time fitting into the ANTEC 900 TWO computer case with all my Hard Drives.
So instead of using the PCI-E slots #1 and #3 for CorrosFireX as stated by Asus
I was only able to fit the cards in PCI-E slots #2 and #4

I need to know if this will be ok !?! Will I still get 16x and 16x out of this setup ? And will slot #2 act as the primary PCI-E slot ?

Thing is I heard that X58 chipset has 32 PCI-E lanes for video cards.
I also heard that slots #1 and #2 make up first 16 lanes and slots #3 and #4 make up the other 16 lanes.
So is it not possible to use slots #2 and #4 to get 16x and 16x ???

(Note: I also turned the PCI-E swiches to " off " on all but slots #2 and #4 )

I am just putting it together now, so no OS is installed yet. No way to test.
    Can anyone please reply ?

    Thank you.

    @Samson
PCI-E 1 & 2 share 16 lanes and PCI-E 3 & 4 share another 16 lanes, so as long as there is one VGA in 1 or 2 and one in 3 or 4 you are fine.
There are exceptions though. If using 3 VGA's in 1, 2 and 3, 1st will run @ 16x while 2nd and 3rd will run @ 8x. Also if you have VGA @ 16x and stick in some sound card for example in near slot @ 1x, you won't slow down VGA, IIRC.

Thank you so much for the info !!
But I am surprised at the last part of what you said about the sound card.
I thought this " would " in fact slow down the video card to less than 16x.
Are you sure it will not ??

Anyways, I will not be putting in any additional video cards.
I will only be using PCI-E slots #3 and #4 for my two Radeon HD5970, and the
standard PCI slot for a 56K Modem.

So I am safe to put my 5970's in slots 3 and 4 and still get 16x/16x bandwidth ??

No, you can't use 3 & 4 and maintain 16x speed for both. You said you will be using 2 & 4 and it would be OK for 16x/16x.
You can use 1&3 or 1&4 or 2&3 or 2&4 to keep it at 16x/16x, and not 1&2 or 3&4 as it will drop to 8x/8x.
About using x1 card by the side of VGA and maintaining VGA at 16x, I'm 99% sure, as I read it somewhere what people tried, but didn't try it myself.

4.3ghz / 1880mhz mem is Prime95 stable for 19 hours, 27 minutes on all 12 threads and no errors... yet it wont pass a 20 round test in LinX... i think something is wrong with LinX.

i've got the update but every time i try using that one it hangs on it's test. i puts about 98% load on the CPU and just sitings on test one and never completes or stops on error... just keeps going and going.
