Just to let you know - on Asus P6X58D-Premium and P6X58D-E with just standard 24pin + 8pin PSU, I've had no problems supplying insane amount of power:

1.45v for i7 980 @ ~4.7Ghz (so at least ~200W)
1.138v for 3x480 @ ~900Mhz (so at least 225W)

Add to this RAM/wifi card/USB devices/NB+SB and it's pretty astonishing how the board deals with ~500W with no extra cpu or pci power.

I'll be overvolting GPUs to 1.2v this weekend so if you see black clouds over UK it's just smoke from my rig burning
