that is an interesting bundle, there are several ram deals, that when you buy 6G OCZ ram it comes to less then jsut the board alone...

thanks for pointing that out, that is very interesting...

i compiled a bunch of cracker deals

There are lots of great deals I see on Newegg for UD9

If you don't want to pay US$700 for the board alone you can pick up some nice bundles that would make it cost $500 in most instances if you get some nice RAM from OCZ or PSU from Corsair etc

I love this board!! Got it basically the same day it was available. Only problem is I cant get into windows anymore.. The board just shuts off. I'm on f3. Tried 3 power sources. Tried 3 cpu's.
Different kit of memory.. The last thing I noticed before taking a break from the frustration was that depending on what hard drive I plugged in ( say my os hd ) the board would shut off right away with that one..

I'm having similar issues with several biosses for all diferrent boards on the GB lineup...Try a reflash back to F2 mate or even F4 series... F4B works nicely here for the review...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Thanks so much man! I'll give that a go. I used an older os to flash the bios the first time. I'll try q-flash and see. I thought maybe the nb was getting hot so I decided to install some water cooling. I felt the back of the board after that and everything seemed great.. No heat at all so I dont think that's it.. Especially since I can sit in the bios for a long time and it never shuts down.. only during os startup..

F4B is okay, needs an AHCI hold time inserted for booting optical SATA drives, though.

Just updated the bios.. Same issue.. This time I booted into windows.. then ran 3dmark 06 cpu test at 4ghz.. The board powered off right away.. bummer.. Hopefully it's not broken for some reason.. Barely used it.

At stock it will make it through the vantage stress test using a 980x that's brand new.. On water it reaches 40c
At 4ghz however, the mobo just shuts off.. That's a pretty moderate clock for water cooling as well.. I dont get it. Thanks so much!!
@Raju The ioh is water cooled so that does'nt get hot at all..

    Check with another power supply?

I had a smiliar problem where my board (gigabyte x58 Extreme tho) just shut off and then i figure out it was my Chieftech PSU that had a wierd 24 pin so if i touched it my comp just turned of.

Tho it got worse after a while since i didnt notice anything at the start.

Man, SO it looks like there was some grease or something in the cpu socket.. All the pins are fine but when I turned the board to the side I could see something wet or weird on the pins.. I noticed that after the board powers off, when I take the cpu out it has some grease or it's a little wet.. I took some electrosolve and cleaned it all off and then dried it.. Just put the cpu back in and we'll see if there are any traces left.. It looked really clean and nice though after I did that so fingers crossed!!

My board was broken.. Did'nt even use it hardly at all.. looked brand new when it broke.. Was hoping for an x5677 run with that board but I'll have to wait til it gets back from RMA.. I just dont think the rampage lll has what it takes to get the wprime/xeon numbers.. I overclocked the x5677 to 6169mhz on the rampage and ran wprime 32m and still only ranked 3rd for the quad cores.. something is weird with that board and xeons. cant wait for the UD9!

I face very strange behavior when I run 3D06.

My UD9 3D06 score are not very stable.
    CPU(980X) & GPU(GTX480) clock are all default.
    1st run, I get around 23k marks.
    2nd run, I get around 22.7k marks.
    3rd run, I get around 22.5k marks.
The score going down around 200 - 300 score every run.

If I close 3D06, The score go back around 23k.
But same problems happens if I never close 3D06.
I checked score details, CPU Score isi very stable.
    It around 7650 - 7750.
But GT2 & HDR1 score is very ramdom.
These test score go down around 5 - 15 fps.

Other mobo does not happen these kind of score falls.
    I had already change PCI-E slots & OS/Driver.
Is this UD9 character or defect roducts?

    Please give me some suggestions?
    (Sorry for my bad english)
