I wouldnt worry about it. It is probably just early sample of the board for reviews, that has different coloring.

    Hey gents,

Just wondering if anyone's experienced a corrupt GUID for Firewire after a BIOS flash? I keep getting the following error message in my console log:

    FireWire GUID ffffffffff0020ed is invalid!

Compared to the address written on the sticker that shows the NIC MAC addresses and the Firewire address, this is completely off.

I did a bit of digging around, and it seems people are able to fix nvidia based boards using awdflash /nvguid:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.. I tried awdflash and it gets stuck at "Please wait" and it does no detect a flash type.

Any help would be appreciated. I've contacted Gigabyte support but they have yet to respond.

here are my stable setting for 205 bclock resulting for a 4.3Ghz..as you can see the VTT is just 1.35v if i raise it to a higher value it just gives me BSOD with error 124..so i just lower it down and it becomes stable..now my goal is to check whether its the MAX bclock i can squeeze coz when i tune it up to 207 or 208 it just boots but to no avail cant run benches or any apps properly..

Thanks in advance to who can help..

So, I went from F9E to F13h and then F13i. I definitely noticed that F13h is less stable - the same settings that are stable under F9E are not under F13h. I just installed F13i, so I will update once I know more.

One huge difference I have noticed though, is that F13h and F13i have a tendency to "lose" a DIMM of memory while overclocking. This goes away when I set my system back to stock speeds, which makes me wonder if I'm losing the DIMM because the settings I'm trying are too much for the system or if it's an indication that one of my DIMMs or motherboard is faulty - any one have an idea (I apologize if it's been brought up)? I noticed right away that F13i has a new routine built-in that tries to recover the lost DIMM. After three tries it worked, but it took forever to verify the DMI Pool - it's annoying, but not a huge problem.

So, after settling for 195x21 for a while (since it wouldn't do 195+), I pulled the i7 920 out of my GF's machine (she wasn't overclocking it, after all) and tried that out. It does bclk of at least 200 - awesome. However, I'm running into an issue getting it stable. I can get into windows just fine, I can even run about 40 minutes of LinX, but for some reason some games run really, really slow and then crash out to Windows. The weird thing is that some games work just fine. I can play the most demanding sections of Crysis for hours without any issues. Left 4 Dead 2 and a few others, however, won't play for more than a few seconds AND exhibits terrible performance right before crashing out to the desktop.

Upping the uncore multiplier from 16x to 18x seems to fix the choppiness and buys the system an extra minute or so of stability in-game, which I found to be strange. Dropping the CPU Multi to 18x alleviates the problem altogether, resulting in a perfectly stable system. A CPU Multiplier of 19x exhibits the same performance/stability as 20x. Moving from F13h/i to F12 seems to have increased stability a little, as well. I haven't gone back to F9E, which has provided the best overall results to me so far (I plan to do that tomorrow). Basically, I'm looking for some advice in regards to getting past this hurdle. I've tried a VTT as high as 1.4v and VID of 1.376 together so far, but given that I get ~40 minutes of LinX with just 1.36, I'm not sure increasing voltages will even help. It seems as though games that partially load all four cores together, rather than fully loading one or two of them, are the ones exhibiting stability problems, but I haven't been able to confirm this completely.

I've also upped the PCIe frequency to 103 (doesn't boot higher than that), turned of PROCHOT, increased CPU Clock Drive to 1000mv and clock skew to 200ops, and disabled load-line calibration. None changed a thing.

Here are the settings I'm using - does anyone have any ideas as to 1) what might be causing the choppiness and/or 2) some idea of how to get this system stable at 20x200?

Just like to say Hello! to everyone here as I'm new to the i7 system. I have been trolling around here for about a week trying to learn from other people's mistakes and victories. So far I have found the O/C of my 920 D0 fairly easy, but not without hiccups. I also learned not to use UD-5 Auto settings as it over volts the z out of everything. In particular the QPI/VTT which I had on auto and when I went into ET6 after doing some stress testing realized the board had set it to 1.53V, my CPU VTT was at 1.1875, so that is quite a difference. I have subsequently lowered to a stable 1.295. Next step is to go for 200 bclk, as I have read anything over 190 bclk needs alot of voltage? any other recommendations?

P.S: Could someone give me a step by step on how to make my esata work please, I have tried everything.

I guess it's up to me to keep this going then!!

Here's another snippet of where I am now. I am not using LLC and the voltage is creeping up, especially after 175 blck. The ram on the other hand has to be considered a steal at what it goes for on line and what I'm able to run it at. G-skill does it again, G.SKILL F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ great kit. Does memory timings impact QPI/VTT greatly? is my quest for faster timings increasing my QPI/VTT? How how can I go with this OC if I'm already at 1.395 QPI/VTT and 1.54 Ram VTT? Thx

I've flashed it today. No difference in overclock. It has new layout, but the downgrade is that it has Intel RAID driver 8.5.0.1023, and before that I was using a modified BIOS f13c from this post: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=4427 , and it had Intel RAID driver 9.6.0.1014.

I like the new layout, but the RAID drivers downgrade makes me flash the modded f13c again, until there is a modified F13J.

    It's already F13k out.

They may all be updated with 1023 (Can't remember exactly), but that is 8.9.x.1023, not the newer 9.6 ROM's.
