Good question. I have the CMG version which is Rev2.2 and uses Elpida BBSE, but those ICs are out of production. I'm guessing the kit you linked is using PSC chips since those seem to be the only things memory manufacturers can get their hands on that will clock decently.

But how do I determine which version is this kind of memory model (CMT6GX3M3A1600C7)? Is it possible?
I did not understand this very table you passed the link. Thanks!

I do not know this type of chip (PSC), but it would be good for overclocking? Thanks for the reply!

PSC=PowerChip. They aren't as good as Elpida Hyper or BBSE as they typically need tRCD to be +2 or +3 clocks higher than CAS, that's why you see all these DDR3-2000 kits out now with timings like 7-10-7.

i believe rev 2.1 are hypers and 2.2 Are bbse chips, either way both are good!

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

    what about CMT12GX3M6A1866C9 ?

and how do you tell what version they are exactly. the whole point, to what i can tell, of this post was asking HOW to tell what ever they are by simply looking at that model code and then going from there yet no explaination is giving

i JUST got Corsair's CMT12GX3M6A1866C9 kit and would like to know what chips are on it and whether or not they're reliable enough to keep at the 2000mhz clocking i have them at.

You have to go by the revision number that is printed on the stickers except in instances where only Elpida Hyper chips can fit the specs, like 1866 7-8-7, 2000 8-8-8 and 2000 7-8-7. Corsair has a DDR3 IC inquiry thread: http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68811

There is definately BBSE that will do 1866 7-8-7 and 2000 7-8-7/2000 8-8-8 though Corsair tends to only use Hyper...

I had a discussion once with the mods at corsair about their memory. Specifically, Corsait dominators 1600 C8 dimms and asked them what the difference was between these and their XMS version which was significantly cheaper. They told me the heatsink. Well i wasn't able to clock it more than 14 mHz over their 1600 rating. I know that corsair sells xmx chips rated the same as their dominator gt. Check them out. Personally I would only buy the real high end corsairs if you want it to go further than specs. I was pretty disappointed when they told me that.

awwww gotchya i see it now.

so mine are PSC chips... yet they're clocking fine with 9-9-9 and 8-8-8... no tRCD +2 or 3 issues... then again i did only increase speed from 1866 to 2000.

I would buy these Corsair MT6GX3M3A1600C7, but unfortunately ran out of stock of the seller. I think I'll end up buying the Mushkin RedLine 6-7-6-18 or 6-8-6-24, what do you think?

They are (most likely) NOT hypers. Hypers do 1600 6-6-6-18 like cake does eating. I havent seen a set that can't hit 1600. They should be rated 6-6-6-18 or they are not Hypers. I can only think of BBSE being able to do those timings, PSC would more likely be 6-8-6.

Yes, the 2000 8-8-7 kit you linked that is EOL are Hypers.

Runs perfectly at 1600mhz at 6-6-5-18-1N, these are MGH-E, its been proven

    Returning to the topic...

Still have not bought the memory. Researched in several stores, and have not found the model of Mushkin 6-7-6-18 for sale in any way. I sent an email to Mushkin, and they told me that this model 6-7-6-18 (998691) has discontinued the production start of this year and that the model is now the substitute 6-8-6-24 (998805). Then I ask myself, this model 6-8-6-24 uses Elpida Hyper BBSE chip, model equal to 6-7-6-18?

    This one: http://www.mushkin.com/Memory/Redline/998805.aspx.
