I think there is also the issue of comparing graphics CARDS, not # of GPUs. I know a ton of people will jump
    on this so-called logical fallacy,
but I see nothing wrong with comparing the performance of a graphics card that fits into ONE PCI-E slot.
This is why the 5970 is still the best graphics CARD.
And i see nothing better than a videocard that fit in every case. 5970 don't fit or barely fit in many cases.
And for 250$ you can buy a good case, a good cooler, a good Psu and may be even a HDD.
You people don't learn anything from the economic crysis, why to spend so much more money for almost nothing more ?
( two Palit Platinium at 800/1600/4000 are i think equal to 5970 ).
More to this Nvidia will launch dual GF 104 card in this summer so buying now a 5970 is like throwing to garbage 250$.
Also 2 GTX 460 are easy to sell everytime you want, one by time, 5970 is more expensive is harder to sell again.
From two GTX 460 will be more easy to upgrade in the future.
And look at this, GTX 460's can do 950 core, 4600memory> with a little voltage posiible to done on the majority of GTX 460s.
