For CPU coolers I found these on Newegg.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835200042

Relatively cheap... Not sure if you can get stock AMD coolers for less or not but these are bigger than stock sinks. They use an 80mm fan vs stock 70mm.

    thanks werd.

yeah sparky those are a good deal, i might be a touch concerned on how well they will cool these. i have 92mm CM TX3's at full blast and the cpu's run just shy of 50C. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835103064

Can we get a clarification, what socket must be supported by the heatsink to be compatible with out motherboard?

You can fit a 754/939 heatsink bracket on these boards if I remember correctly. Then really any heatsink that uses the clip-on method will work.

that's what i did. modified the retention bracket to fit the lever then clipped on the heatsinks, works like a charm

Does anybody actually want to buy some of this memory? :/

The seller has been very good in holding onto it for me, but is starting to get impatient.

    £12 per 2x1GB ECC DDR2-667.

I can take money, buy it and ship onwards to other people in Europe/US, but prices for shipping are unknown to me at this time.

Well guys i'm done testing the boards. all i had time for was one cpu, four sticks of ram and see that it got at least into the bios. i think if the board does that it should be good to go. with that said the final tally for fubar'd boards is 5 out of the 21. three arrived damaged and two wouldn't post. needless to say that's pretty unacceptable. it's been two days now that i emailed the seller and i'm still waiting to hear back from him. in the meantime i will be figuring up shipping for some of you guys so get your monies ready. now i have to find suitable boxes...

If it was US, then yeah, but being UK and knowing the prices of going across the pond, I'll probably do better to get some closer to home.

EDIT: Got some quick quotes and looks like shipping would be £24 from UK to US regardless of how many sticks were packed up in the box.

That includes £50 compensation cover, but more can be added for 5% of the additional amount. 16 sticks would be ((8*£12)-£50)*5% = £2.30.

So how much minimum should we run with this? I'm thinking 1GB per CPU would be enough, right? so 4x1GB? How much shipped to the US would that be? I'm not sure what the conversion rate is from £ to $

4x1GB plus shipping would be around 71USD.

If 4 people wanted to buy 4x1GB it'd go down to 45USD per person.

EDIT: Plus whatever it costs for shipping within the US.

70 bucks for 4GB ECC DDR2-667 is a good price. 45 is a great deal, I'm not finding anything like that around here.

    GUYS JUMP ON THAT!!

I however may not because I remembered that at work on the stock shelf we have some left over ECC DDR2 - so I need to check what speed/size it is because I could buy it at reduced cost.

Also, by the way, I just bought 4 CPUs for this thing. If you have a Bing cashback account, use it. Saves you 9 bucks, basically gives you free shipping. And this time I got instant cash back (first time for me) which was nice!

I told you it was a bargain. :p

List price was £22 per 2x1GB, I got him down to £12.

He's got 53 kits of 2x1GB. All came from Sun or IBM systems.

Minimum order he can do is for 16 kits, and I'm only wanting to buy 8 myself.

guys if all you're doing is crunching then i think 2gb would be enough. i haven't seen any usage over 1.3 gb yet. most of the time it's around 600-900 mb

But you need at least 1 stick per CPU, right? I don't think you can get away from that...
