EVGA GTX470 Owners: Get the High Flow Bracket for Free* (480 Owners too)

All owners of EVGA GTX470s (and now GTX480s) can get one free High Flow bracket per card, which is claimed to lower temperatures by as much as 5C. You just have to pay $4.95 for S&H.

So if I don't own something I'm not allowed to point out that they've bungled on the heatsink solution and now they're releasing an addendum for more money?

The way I see it, the problem is a NV reference design issue. eVGA have come out with a modded solution and are giving it to card owners for $5 shipped for 1 or more. So whats the issue exactly? They sell water blocks too that nvidia doesnt make or design for better cooling also.

For $5 i have an excuse to take my cards apart and reapply TIM and swap out the brackets :P

They should work on either card possibly, they have 480's with high flows so maybe they need stock first or something.

Last time I checked, EVGA isn't obliged to give you, or anything this bracket. Unless the card overheats under normal use, they haven't "bungled" anything.

First of all the stock solution is just fine and second they are not charging for the upgrade.

Oh psh, I read before I buy. If I had to buy this generation, I would've bought a 5850.

It's not about money though, I'm certainly not motivated by penny pinching.

Looks like a nice add on to the 470s and 480s. Too bad I don't have Evga though.

Same here, if they offer something, they should also post some comparison if its worth to get it, even for this small fee.

its semi worth it, I turned my 8800GTX and 285's back braket into 'high flow' and it did make a difference. Also so does making sure there is no wires or obstruction within 5 inches of the back of your computer. Besides little kids sticking their fingers into the back of your machine, there is really no reason to put a protective grating on an airflow outlet if no amount of reaching will hit the fan.

Everything i ever get from EVGA they ship UPS...UPS isnt exactly the cheapest service out there. If they were to ship them USPS first class, even me personally with no business rates costs me $1.60 or so to ship sub 1oz bubble mailers of things like thermal interface material.

Also, i applaud EVGA for doing the right thing...same thing back when the GTX 260/280 was released and then there was that price drop, and evga gave owners evga bucks or cash back on their purchase. The $4.95 s&h is more or less what it costs them...they already ate the cost of having the hi flow brackets produced for cards that were already manufactured. It was not their fault that the nvidia reference cooling design sucks.

Just like some of their other components, I'm not surprised but thats why after my first evga mobo I'm never going back. They have quick customer support but so do a lot of other companies.

I think this only applies to 470 owners at the moment, but I believe that they will make the same promotion available to 480 owners soon (probably a few weeks after the SC+ versions start shipping).
