Some quesiton about temps. I have a 980X at 4.0Ghz water cooled, and max temps under prime95 small FTT are about 50-56C. I also have two GTX 480 in the loop. Are my temps OK?

What is your loop made up of ?
Those 980X's sure do run cool.

My loop consists of the 980X and two GTX 480s @ 800/2000 with stock voltages. I'm using a single Black Ice GTX 480 quad radiator and a DDC 3.25 pump. This is my first WC build.

well a water cooling temp is depend on many other aspect so it's difficult to measure. but it's seem a nice temp there..

after rereading a lot of threads on here im sure i have a very powr hungry and hot running 920, its been having BCCode 124's now and again and started to hardlock on the intel burn test, anything below 1.4v and it will lock up, anything over that and its running 80-85 under water..

no amount of tweaking gets it stable apart from cpu volts!

new chip arrives at the weekend to see how that runs.

I can recommend you to take a closer look on the Xeons ( in your case w3520 = i920 )... they costs nearly the same ... only a difference of a few bucks... but totally woth it.
    I am through with 3 i920 which had a poor to medium oc-potential... now with my W3520 I run 4GHz (200x20) 24/7 with 1,18V Vcore.
My first i920 ( which was also the poorest ) needed 1,42V for 4GHz ... this was much to warm to run 24/7 ... specially in these warm days... my room got 32°C ambient-temp...

124 bsod usually is caused by vtt voltage (too much or too little). Just my

is that the QPI setting ? i think i had upped it to 1.39 in the many various bios tweaks i had done.

at the moment i have set everything to default and the vcore to 1.4 with 20 max linx runs and no crash.

im running the corsair 1600 ram, its set via the xmp profile for timings and 1.64xxx volts

    memtest has flown through.

just a bad chip im thinking, it was an early D0, dunno the batch until i swap it out later this week.

not had a crash since i set the voltage to 1.4 on the cpu so i think it just wanted a bit more as its been running 4ghz for a year now.

80 degrees on core 1 at the mo, hotter than i am happy with but it seems stable

i wouldnt mind that temp but its under a koolance cpu-350....

Late to the game but my board arrives later this week

Going to pair it with a X5667 cpu, anything I should know about the board?

Also is anyone water cooling the NB?

    thanks

Anyone here running a 980x and having throttle issues? I am running linX and no matter what I do I get a drop in multi reported by CPU-Z). I have all throttle options disabled via bios and still dropping multi even trying different bclk and multi and mem speeds.

I am using aircooling ATM but I am still below 70c so I dont think it is thermal control. Gonna loop it up with a temp loop and see if that helps, but any ideas?

I have a question regarding vcore. I've noticed something different about the behavior of vcore with the 980X, compared with my previous 965.

My vcore is set to 1.2250v is BIOS, and CUP-Z reads it at 1.224v idle, and 1.256 - 1.26v full load, a 0.03v plus difference. Is this normal at all? When I had the 965, vcore pretty much stayed the same during idle and load, no big changes. BTW, I leave the Loadline Calibration setting at Auto as always, as disabling it would cause my OC to become unstable.

well i now have a 2nd 920, it seems more stable under 1.4 unlike the last but i still get random linX errors, it can run 50 max passes without error then fail 3 into a new run.

what suggestions do you have to get it stable?

maybe you should try an uneven multiplier with an adjusted fsb to match the core frequency you are aiming at?! the uneven multipliers (x19 or x21) seem to be more stable and less power hungry somehow...

If the clock drops only while idling, check windows power settings. They have this habit of reducing CPU speed even if all power save features in BIOS are disabled.

yes i did that saturday night, 19x and 211 blk after memtesting the 1600 ram at 1691.

it linx'd all night then the next morning when i set it running again it crapped after 30 mins with a linx error, i upped the vcore and prime95 ran for 6 hours along with a bit of linx so i will see how it pans out.

i may try the 1504 bios when im on holidays next week.

Nope, just under Linx and P95 load. I have tried different multis and everything else I can think of...

Tried under water too. Same thing

Finally got the board powered up but I seem to have a insane amount of problems

Anything after 140 BCLK results in a no boot to windows, I can post just fine up to 235BCLK but anything higher than 140 BCLK wont make in to windows
If I set anything higher than 140 with TurboV the app hard locks and will not make the changes
Some help with this would be appreciated
